Overall not bad but spoiled by pool and spa's staff

We visited there with my friends on 20th Feb, 2019. Although hotel decoration is not that impressive, staffs from reception was friendly and helpful. They helped to arrange the cab for around the town tour. Facilities is satisfactory with pool, gym with spa (including sauna and jacuzzi). Breakfast is also nice. The problem came when we asked abt sauna and jacuzzi to pool's staff. She said there is no such services there ( the receptionist already said we can enjoy these service till 10 pm). We got confused abt her response and came back to our room. At that time she followed after us and said there was a room look like sauna and can try if we wish. When we went there, she just switched on sauna room and said it would need 30 mins to start functioning and so no time for others (steam room and jacuzzi). Actually it was 9 pm and we got enough time if she switched on all 3 rooms simultaneously. We have to asked repeatedly for these rooms to open and finally we could enjoy sauna and jacuzzi but not steam room. Beside this, she had no respect to customers and we felt that she was not friendly and sincere enough to us. Apart from this problem, i can accept Grand Amara as 4 stars hotel.

It's OK, especially if you like mosquitos

Stayed here on business - as my visit coincided with a gem trade show other places were full. The hotel is in nice grounds and the rooms are villa style. Big rooms but a bit tired and in need of being refreshed. The two big issues for me were the profusion of mosquitos (loads of water features on site!), and the rock hard bed. I like a firm bed but this was ridiculous. On the plus side, the staff were very nice. Overall, it's not terrible, and of course it's cheap, but I wouldn't choose to return.

OK hotel which could do with a bit of upgrading

I stay alot in Nay Pyi Taw, in various hotels. The Grand Amara is OK. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are big, there is a decent-sized pool (approx. 20 metres) and gym. The food is edible. There is everything you need. But ... it has to be said that the hotel is not really anything special, even though perfectly alright. Other hotels in NPT now give much better service, facilities, food, etc. The rooms definitely need refurbishing and upgrading. And rethinking. For example, the beds are bigger than the sheets, so there is a large gap of uncovered mattress. The door into the very small shower opens inwards so you have to squeeze through a very small gap to get in or out. The bed cover is the old 'blanket between two sheets' trick. And the food is pretty dull, with a very limited menu. Breakfast, especially, is poor - very little choice, no 'healthy' options, no real coffee or jiuce, no heaters under the 'hot' buffet options so everything was stone cold. And only spoons and forks provided to eat with. I had real difficulty when I asked for a knife! So ... overall ... OK. But I would choose another, better hotel in the same price bracket next time in NPT.

Excellent value, but characterless with limited breakfast

Like everything in Naypyidaw, this hotel is spread out across vast grounds - somewhat unnecessarily to be honest. We were taken to our room by golf cart, it was so far away. But in fact we could walk back to reception relatively easily via a shortcut! The room was vast with a high ceiling, good facilities and reliable wifi. But all rather lacking any definable character (beyond simply ostentatious). Non-Chinese people were given breakfast in the bar, which lacked sufficient seating for everyone and was really quite basic from a European perspective (could benefit from more cereals and muesli, a more imaginative bread and pastry selection, more yoghurts). The Chinese were all put into a large room in a different place! The great attraction here is the price, which was an amazing $40. So any mediocre comments should be balanced against this.

Stayed less than 24hours but impressed with aesthetics

This hotel is really grand, impressive furniture and pool is undoubtedly inviting. Breakfast was decent especially the yogurt. Room was spacious which i think common in Naypyidaw. Price was economical and i think this is a good venue for high level meetings. :) It's a pity I stayed only for less than a day.
