A perfect oasis staycation right in CBD

My wife & I had a wonderful overnight Staycation experience at the newly renovated Parmelia Hilton with our baby girl, with first class service from pre-check in till check out. Parmelia Hilton presented a very peaceful atmosphere during our 1 night stay, and the fact that the hotel was not crowded during a public holiday, with restaurant & Executive Lounge well spaced out, all conveyed a safe yet comfortable ambience. As with the other reviews, the hotel is freshly renovated with a fantastic refreshed lobby to greet you. Location-wise, it's centrally located in the heart of Perth CBD, and it took my pregnant wife & 2yo girl only an easy 10min stroll to be on the Hay St mall. When we messaged through the Hilton App to enquire re an early check-in, Joel at check-in was so gracious to upgrade us to a King Executive Suite (Rm 619) on the 6th floor once he learnt we have our girl with us. Its the little gesture like this that sets Hilton apart from other 5 stars hotels. The corner room was airy, spacious, quiet & lovely. The separate lounge area allows us to catch up on work during our girl's nap time. A true little oasis. We dined at their signature Samuel on Mills restaurant for both dinner & breakfast. As it was on a public holiday, they offered the bar menu with 3 additional ala carte. We enjoyed the crab linguine & Steak sandwich among the three of us. The breakfast buffet was typical of Hilton's quality, and we particularly enjoyed the made-to-order egg service (omelette, poached etc) with the auto pancake machine offering a fascinating distraction to our girl. Saving the best for last.. All the staff we encountered during our stay, from pre-checking booking via Des, Nadja to Joel the senior customer manager at reception during our early check in, to Scott the concierge & valet parking manager, to Tam & Peng at Samuel on Mills at dinner & breakfast, to Judy at the Executive Lounge during evening canapes, and the housekeeping who attended our requests for a rollaway bed & amenities, were all exemplary in their customer services. Hospitality in action, well done to John Lucas & his team!

    What Renovation?

Having stayed almost 100 nghts in the old Parmelia Hilton over the years I was excited at the prospect of the newly renovated hotel. Sadly most of the $10 million has been spent on the lobby and not on the rooms. Apart from new carpet and new electronic doors (can use the App to open), the rooms are still filled with the aging 80's brown faux leather and tatty stainless steel furniture from the 'old' Parmelia. The bathrooms haven't been touched and still look like grandma's house. Simple stuff is missing - no glasses in the room, mini-bar empty, no clock/alarm anywhere in the room and hopeless lighting in a room that is already dingy due to the surrounding office blocks. Sorry but with so many new hotels in Perth, Hilton has spent the money in the wrong places - I'll be back to the Intercontinetal or Doubtree next time.

    Weekend

My husband and I were looking forward to coming back to the Parmelia after it being closed for a year. We have been staying there regularly since the 1990s and it was our favourite hotel. When we tried to book the room I couldnt find the room I wanted on the Hilton app. I rang the hotel to book a Queen Executive Suite (formerly a Queen Suite). I was told on the phone that these are no longer available, so I booked a King Executive Suite. I found out while there that the Queen Executive Suites are just not ready yet, that in fact the whole 10th floor is still under renovation. If I had been informed of that on the phone I would have delayed out visit until those rooms are available. The King Executive Suite is roomy and quiet, but there is no access to the balcony and the decor is rather dreary. I understand that all the balconies have been locked because they do not comply with the Building Code, I really hope that this can be rectified. Rather pointless having a beautiful suite with a locked balcony. As far as the refurbishment goes the Executive Lounge is an excellent addition and we enjoyed Samuels on the Mill. The new furniture around the pool is fantastic and very comfortable and we spent many hours there. The areas outside the lifts are not as grand as they once were. On the plus side the majority of the staff are welcoming and the food is great. Unfortunately though the experience did not quite meet our expectations.

    A decent work-stay hotel

I regularly stayed at the Hilton pre-covid and regularly received consistently good service with a clean and comfortable room. The breakfast was really good and whilst the food in the evening was ok i felt that it was overpriced.

Not fully renovated. 1960's Baby thrown out with the bathwater!

I was looking forward greatly to a return after many visits well over 20 years. Nicely welcomed. Good to see a lovely management lady again at reception and she also visited the new Executive Club Lounge . Luke couldn't have been better there.Superb cheeses, A couple of pleasant, but undetermined hot items. Many drinks. Other guests friendly. The male management still continue to deny the real situation about even having suites. Other reviewers confirmed they were given them. Why not Diamond return guests? My room was quiet, restrained but little changed. Stripped of its artwork as too the rest of the hotel. No individual light switches! The Pericles lobby canvas was too detailed for me to absorb. Smaller examples at local private hospital.I l did like the discreet television hidden in the lobby corner. I hope the property is just a little more beautified, with some artwork restored. Lobby would be even more attractive without the somewhat monstrous Publicist mural.?Beidermeier was better! Please fix the room light controls and the male management suite correctness. It wasn't just what was available that day! I've been patient for years.
