  The best hotel on Hainan with the most beautiful beach

  It was our third time in this hotel. Last time the hotel left not very good empression (crowdy, bit dirty, lack of service). But this time they made our 1 night stay just perfect. Being a member of Hilton Honors gave us opportunity to receive room upgrade, late check-out and very nice staff attitude. We ordered free transfer, and they sent a private minivan for us. The sea view from the room was ideal. Buffet dinner was very dilicious with a lot of seafood. But breakfast isn't verious, mostly suitable for chinese.

  It is five star, but...

  Theres plenty to like about this hotel. The foyer is incredible, the staff are very helpful and friendly, I stayed in my largest ever hotel room, the views are great and the one pool that was open was huge. Theres access to a beach and theres a boardwalk that makes for a good morning walk. Im a Westerner and I was the only Westerner there - so these comments arent relevant for 99% of visitors. Without a car, the hotel is isolated. Foreigners arent allowed to visit Tonggu Ridge which is nearby. The Executive Lounge was closed. I sneaked a look and the view looked great over the beach. The temporary set up in the Tonggu Lounge was pleasant and well catered, but not the same. Also, the pool with a swim up bar (for adults and kids was closed (grrr). The beach is easily accessible but not swimmable. You can dip your toes in, but it is too rocky. Would only visit again if I could hire my own car.

  Nice hotel, but not yet up to western Hilton standards

  Very large hotel with hundreds of rooms. Rooms are air conditioned, but because the rooms are so big, the air conditioning is ineffective. The beds are also too big. Way bigger than a king and bigger than super king, you need a mobile phone to speak to your partner who is in the same bed! There two or three restaurants which are not open all the time. The main one is in the same room as the breakfast. Breakfast is buffet style and they have a lot of Chinese stuff, and a bit of bread and stuff, but not cheese or cooked meats. They do have English type of breakfast, however quality is low standard. Coffee is watery but they have one machine which is nice if you can speak mandarin, or get them to understand what you want. Staff are polite and helpful. They dont speak much English, but you can probably get across your message if you are patient. You need a car or a taxi to get to this hotel. Its a long way from a railway line or airport. It took a car about 90 minutes to get to the airport from the hotel. Fridge in the room is not cold but they will bring ice for free if you want it, be careful about opening windows or you will get mosquitoes in and they will bite you. The beach is about ten minutes walk and quite pleasant. It doesnt feel safe enough to swim though. I would stay here again but when I arrived I would make sure I got a room with a smaller bed and that the air conditioning was working properly.

  It was just an amazing journe.

  I travel with my some Chinese friends in may 2019, Before Visiting Hilton Wenchang i dont think it will be my one of the most memorable journey. Everything was good food qualit, standard service & good behaviour.

  Needs work

  Excellent hotel but needs some serious maintenance. Also, facilities were probably at best at 30% due to COVID... but at least the pool should be open... I mean common, its a beachfront hotel. Even so, the real problem and reason for poor rating is the smoke detector randomly going off at 3:00 am in the morning. We spoke with reception and they apparently remotely cut the line but never called us back... so we were just up, waiting in the room. Hotel needs to find proper management and training soon or maybe better off just staying closed for a little while longer.
