  With Group or Solo

  I stayed 12 nights for a winter holiday at the Hotel Mattmarkblick. First with a group when we had a room to ourselves for breakfast and dinner, then just me and I was seated in the general dining area. All meals very plentiful, varied and prepared with love. All staff is very attentive and ready to make suggestions about drinks or things to do. Herr Zubriggen, the owner, inquired every day about your plans and how they went. There was also traditional live music (Thursday night), an opportunity to watch a movie about the local animals and a complimentary drink on the house, and a guided snowshoe tour for guests. The rooms were functional and clean and accessible by elevator. The location is very good, the bus stop about 100 yards away, also post office and a small supermarket. Hotel has ski storage and play area for kids. Good WiFi. So no matter, how you travel and with whom the hospitality of the Hotel is exceptional? Ant time again!

  Very basic

  Basic hotel-restaurant. I had the impression that the hotel part was less important than the restaurant part. There wasn't even a proper reception area. Location is very good, in the centre of the village but quiet. Our room was large enough, bathroom was rather small but functional. The room furniture, though, is in URGENT need of replacement. The beds are very low to the ground and the mattresses are worn out. We had taken half board because, in this season, there are not many dining opportunities. The food was okay both at breakfast and at dinner. Price of our package was somewhat overpriced view the uncomfortable beds. The owners as well as the staff were extremely friendly and service was impeccable.

  Unpretentious

  Choose this hotel for the almost limitless high alpine walking routes available in the vicinity. Saastal area is a much better alternative to the adjacent Zermatt valley, which is overrun with the huge tour groups and hordes of selfie takers. Family run hotel and obviously doing it right as near fully booked in mid September Herr Zurbriggen is very sociable and advises where best to go to suit weather conditions, usually over a complimentary drink after dinner. Good location if travelling by car as easy parking (unlike car free Saas Fee and having to garage well away from the hotel) Complimentary lift and area bus pass for the duration of stay (Adjacent bus stop and convenient access to Saas Fee/Grund). Comfortable bedrooms with balconies Traditional style Austrian Twin double beds In-room safe but not fridge. No lounge area but bar/restaurant doubles instead. Only quibble is the chair/bench upholstery needs refurbishment. Excellent wholesome four course evening meal at SFr 20pp (Soup/Salad/Choice of two Mains/Dessert Reasonably priced drinks.

  Nice hotel to enjoy the swiss hospitality in the mountains.

  Good breakfast, convenient parking space in front, good area for winter activities ( we did skiing and also snowshoe walks). The staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel offered for free snowshoes to explore a nice path not far from the hotel.

  A fantastic holiday :)))

  Be sure to come here; wonderfull owner, service, almost family atmosphere, delicious food, monumental mountain surroundings, sun, skiing, walks. Perfect holiday far from the tumult, noise and troubles.
