Lovely room, minor issues, great food

The rooms are lovely... the bathroom was huge. Curious they do not have "house phones" so you need to use your cell for reservations, ice, etc. Avoid rooms on the roadside as they could be noisy in the AM. Maybe it was the folks in the room next to us being loud but walls seem thin given the quality and price of the property. We were told to park near the white fence but that was wrong given where our room was. The food in the restaurant was simply fantastic as was the restaurant staff. Had breakfast (the bananas foster waffles..wow) and dinner...best scallops I've ever had. They didn't tell us how to get into the restaurant before 9 AM as the front is locked...a gardner helped get us in. Net, better check in instructions are in order!

    Gone With the Wind revisited

This place is fantastic! We took a mini-vacation to come here from our South Alabama home and found it to be as beautiful and enjoyable as a relative described from their visit. We're so glad we took their recommendation. Low key splendor, elegance and charm. The grounds and gardens were splendid. The Carriage House restaurant, on the grounds, served some of the most sumptuous food we've ever eaten for dinner and breakfast (which was complimentary). And the adjacent Turtle Bar was cozy and welcoming as any neighborhood watering hole. Our guide for the tour of the main house was first rate and entertaining as well. And the River Road History Museum, also on the property, was brilliantly arranged with lovely artwork and memorabilia. A tad on the pricey side, but absolutely, positively worth every penny. We'll be back!

Great place all around! Hard to compare to anything else!

The Houmas House is unlike any place you can find to stay in Louisiana. The accommodations are clean, quiet, and comfortable. The bar is beautiful with one of the most interesting bourbon selections you will ever find. The food-simply amazing and I would put it up against most restaurants anywhere. The grounds and landscaping are beautiful and peaceful. There is no doubt it is a great value for what you spend to stay. I dont want to leave out the staff... Everyone is so accommodating and friendly, and get to know you very quick and make sure you are happy. They are definitely not afraid to go the extra mile.

    Wonderful!! Stay here!!

We love Houmas House, having visited the plantation home a few years back. We decided to stay here a night on our way back home from Florida, with a quick pit stop in NOLA for Cafe Du Monde prior. Of course, it took much longer than expected in NOLA so we rolled in after 9 pm. Staff was waiting for us, complete with golf cart, to help us to our room and with our luggage. Ms. Sandy even took our three kids for a golf cart ride to see the river lit up at night, so my husband and I could sit for a minute. Shes absolutely amazing. I have never in my life encountered a nicer bed and breakfast with kinder staff, we are so impressed with this lovely place. The owner was present and we got to meet his dogs, too - the amount of work he is doing to preserve and showcase this home is truly a sight to behold. And our doggie was welcome, too! Breakfast is amazing and your stay also includes two tickets to tour the house. We had a king room with a sofa bed - perfect size for our family of 5 and the bathroom is palatial and gorgeous. The room itself was spotless and beautifully appointed, with LOccitane toiletries (definitely a plus for this tired momma). The grounds are gorgeous, and every person we encountered was so friendly and kind. Folks stop to talk to you, and to just to see how you are...Highly recommended - we will be back. A few hours after we left, we got a call - my daughter left my iPad in the room. Of course, the Inn is now mailing it to us. In Kansas. From Louisiana. You know, because these are the best people on the face of the Earth. Thank you, Houmas House! Its the first time in a long time we felt welcome as a family to such a lovely place - like staying with family (the ones you are actually excited to see, I think we all know what that means). :)

A visit to Houmas House during holidays is Louisiana at its best

Working during the holidays is never great but it sure seemed better by staying at The Inn at Houmas House. I cant imagine there is a better time to see Houmas House than the holidays as the grounds, House and Carriage House restaurant were all so beautiful!! A shout out to Lauren who was server for both meals enjoyed on property. She was very attentive, knowledgeable with the perfect amount of southern charm. Patrick also did an amazing job at 17 as our tour guide of the mansion. Despite being exhausted upon departure today to finish up conference, I wouldnt change my time at Houmas House which will stand as a special holiday memory for decades to come. The Inn itself is well appointed with a soaking tub from heaven and comfy bed to add to a welcomed departure from reality.
