Helpful people, pleasant settings, some drawbacks

In Manjimup overnight on business, and I found the people at Kingsley Motel very friendly and helpful. The setting is pleasant, pretty much on the edge of town, and my room was very adequate. Three small drawbacks for the business traveller, however. First, there is an area usable as a desk, but not very convenient for the purpose. We need a desk. Second, the wifi is open (unsecured) - useless for doing business. I finished up hot-spotting off my phone. Third, the the guest welcome pack in the room said reception was open from 7am, so I thought I had a good early getaway. It was not, however. Not opening until 7:30, I was told, because of COVID. What on earth has that got to do with it. Three small things, easy to fix, would make the Kingsley much more business-traveller-friendly.

    Basic

Small room, but clean and comfortable, a bit noisy at night with trucks passing though. Would have appreciated some more facilities, but not really enough space. Dined in the restaurant one night and can really recommend the meals there.

Clean & Spacious Rooms in the Renovated Wing

We stayed in the renovated wing of the Kingsley Motel and the room was spacious, nicely decorated in neutral tones. The bathroom was spacious and clean and you were provided with a decent hair dryer. The room had good lighting and ample storage, large flat screen tv with loads of channels to view. The room had a mini bar, kettle, iron/ironing board and a small table and two chairs. The curtains in the room were block out, however early morning light shorn right around the window frame like a halo and woke you up. The reverse cycle air conditioner worked really well and there was ample parking right outside your unit. The servicing of the rooms lacks attention to detail. On the first night we only got one flannel to use between two people. I requested an additional pillow and this basic request was not accommodated for even though we requested additional pillows when making the booking three months prior. The next day there was no milk provided and no additional flannel and then on the last day there was no milk, no flannel, no cups provided to make a cup of tea (the cups provided on the hotel are paper cups) and absolutely no toiletries. There was no one to complain to, as it was 5pm on New Years Eve and the front office, reception and restaurant were closed. You could not complain the next day as it was New Years day and there was only a key drop available on check out. Lucky the local supermarket was still open to buy toiletries, mugs and milk, however after being out all day exploring Manjimup and the surrounds you should not have to go out in search of a local supermarket to buy things that you have already paid for to be included in your hotel accommodation price very disappointing. I would have liked to have some net curtains so that I could open the curtains up and get some sunlight into the room without everyone seeing into our room from the carpark. Overall, it was a nice, clean and spacious room.

    Clean and comfortable

Clean and comfortable - food at restaurant was excellent. Slight problem with noise from adjoining room through the door. Handy location for touring the region. Our mix up with booking but sorted out quite easily by desk staff.
