  Very nice!! Best customer service experience in Germany

  I have been living in Germany for over a year, and my experience at Hotel Halfenstube is the best customer service I have come across in this country! The staff are warm and helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we could want. It was a good base for our weekend of wine tasting in the Mosel. The rooms are relatively basic (typical for the area) but quite large. And the hotel's location has a great terrace overlooking the Rhine. The value of the package we got (2 nights + 2 dinner + 2 breakfasts) was really outstanding, we all thought it was a great deal! We were extremely comfortable and I would recommend to anyone.

  A bit underwhelming

  We booked two nights here at the weekend, aiming to use it as a base for walking some of the adjacent Mosel trail by day, and to drink and dine on the riverside terrace by night. I knew from the website photos when I booked that this was not an "olde worlde" place - the original building is old, but other than that small part , it had been extended and modernised inside to resemble a pretty standard corporate traveller's overnight stop. As I say, I was aware of this, so I can't mark it down on that basis ... but I did find it charmless to the extent that we didn't eat there despite it being lively and having a good looking menu. The weather was bad, so we didn't get much use out of the terrace either unfortunately. It was very nice - spoiled only by the view looking directly onto a large campsite which occupied the other bank of the river, and was a bit of an irritating eyesore. The room was again, as expected, pretty neutral and suffered from unusably weak/slow wifi. My phone could just about hold a connection if I stayed still, my wife's had no joy at all. The breakfast was actually amongst the best we had in Germany, and we ate one night in the little restaurant/guesthouse just down the road - which was friendly, lively and had a 13 all you can eat BBQ on Friday nights. I'd normally run a mile from that kind of deal, and neither of us were hungry, but we were sitting down for a drink anyway, and it looked (and smelled) great. I did fancy a bratwurst so I had a chat with the waitress, who said we could have one all you can eat for the two of us - very kind of them to offer that, as we could easily have abused it. We had a lovely salad from the buffet, and three lovely big bratworsts, courtesy of the "grill meister". All in all, our stay suffered from the weather, which meant we were actually in the hotel far more time than we expected, and for that reason, it was a dissapointment. However, it did seem to be busy and popular with guests and locals for food, so they are evidently doing something right. Not my cup of tea, but not their fault.

  Nice hotel, Lovely staff

  We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of July on a half board basis. Having requested a room with not too many stairs. we were given a charming room on the first floor with a balcony & view over the terrace & Mosel river. Whilst the room was not as modern or tastefully furnished as those shown on the website, it was large & very comfortable.... & the view was superb..(although there is a camp site on the opposite side of the river - which we thought would be noisy but it didn't turn out to be) . The included dinners were not outstanding but certainly very tasty (although we did have to make our choices at breakfast) & the hotel's own wine was so nice we had to buy a couple of bottles to bring home with us! Breakfast choice was huge - something for everyone here. The staff were very helpful - & keen to try their English (very useful as my German is very poor!) The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the area being roughly halfway along the Mosel (which is much much nicer than the neighboring Rhine!). Lots of interesting towns & villages & I understand that the walking & cycling are good around here, too

  Very nice.

  After a hot Saturday we went here after being sent away at other restaurants (full). All tables outside were either occupied or reserved so we had to sit inside. I can be very short about this restaurant; it was perfect. The food was excellent, the ambiance modern, the staff very friendly and helpful. Despite the fact that the restaurant was full the service was very fast. We will definitely come back here.

  Excellent cake, wine and service!

  We only sampled cake and drinks as we cycled past early afternoon, but were very impressed by the view, the service, the cake, the wine and the perfectly clean toilets! We were lucky enough to get an outside table overlooking the Mosel and to receive speedy and friendly service from the staff. The cake we ordered came as a very generous portion and was very good value. The wine I drank was one of the best of my 4 day trip. If our brief and limited experience is anything to go by I would certainly return to eat a larger meal and even stay in the hotel ! Try it out if in Senhals!
