  A charming, attentive, very French Hotel with an excellent Chef !

  Buzancais is just far enough from the A71 and the A10 to have preserved its small town atmosphere, and this hotel complements its surroundings perfectly. It has large wrought iron gates through which you drive into the courtyard and to access reception and there are bookable garages should you want one. The gardens are lovely and also extensive with a nice stroll through the kitchen garden and across a meadow down to a small river. The outside areas are well furnished and appointed and our room was extremely comfortable with very original decor of a modern nature, but tasteful, not showy. I suspect every room has been approached with a different theme, not just done in a corporate fashion! The Restaurant inside appeared very comfortable, but we chose to eat on the terrace to enjoy the lovely evening. We were only passing through on our way to the Catalan, but we spoke to an English couple who were cycling around the area and they had been there for a few days end really enjoyed the cycling, the countryside and the Hotel. The owner was charming, and the service was perfect, everything very precise, and the food was excellent. Quality and cuisine both in the top 10% of many places we have stayed in France over the years. We liked it all very much and will not hesitate to stay there again, particularly as the detour off the Motorway and back again takes you on a beautiful scenic drive on empty roads and hardly creates any delay in the overall journey.

  Rooms need updating

  Stayed the night en route from Le Havre to South. We were in the annexe - room was rather depressingly basic - but the food in the restaurant more than made up for it. Wondering if the rooms in the main house are better.

  Really good restaurant but rooms reflect what you pay for them

  Super evening meal and wine at a great price. Hotel grounds are beautiful and secure. Nice atmosphere. Our room could do with an overhaul. Lovely helpful staff. Great parking. Good wifi. Nice other guests.

  We came for the hotel, well return for the restaurant

  This is an unexpected pearl in the sea of quaint hotels in the Center of France. An early 20th century building, set in a beautiful park, with some rooms still in the process of being remodeled. Getting hot water out of the faucet takes a bit of patience, but patience is a virtue. The hotel restaurant was a delightful surprise: none of the old-fashion, cream-rich and heavy cuisine one often finds in high-end restaurants in the country-side, but rather prime ingredients simply and elegantly prepared. The hosts are charming and a return visit in the summer to dine in the garden very tempting!

  Great Restaurant, average Hotel

  We stayed here for a night on our way home on a cold and very wet October day. There were only two other guests. You might have thought that they would have turned the heating on in the bedroom. Not a good first impression. If you wished to have a pre dinner drink you were directed to the Salon. Again cold and dark but the restaurant made up for all that. Lovely light and warm room. Absolutely delicious food and a good wine list. This is a palce of two halves. Perhaps in the summer the hotel would have a better ambiance as it has a terrace and a potentially pretty park like garden. The staff though couldn't have been more helpful.
