    Great staff, location and rooms

We went to New Orleans again this year and we normally stay at another place up St. Charles. But, I wanted a closer experience to Canal Street. Maison Pierre Lafitte looked like it was it and we were not disappointed! The staff really took care of us, the rooms were spotless and the location was just far enough away from the noisy Bourbon street, but was only a few blocks away! Obviously, every place is fairly well dated, but this place was very well kept as compared to other places, very comfortable. I cannot say enough about this place. We will be booking here on our next trip there.

    Great place to stop.

Well placed to visit New Orleans. Right in the centre. Not cheap to park a car. Go and see City Park a hours walk from the hotel. Hotel staff could not do enough for you. Lots of good eating places on the door step.

Old and smelly- not worth the RCI points for exchange

After reading the previous reviews, I booked here anyway. The good news is the condo is located next to the Roosevelt and taxis are easy to get. You can walk to Bourbon Street and Harrah's within 10 minutes. There is a street car pick up point around the corner on Canal Street. The bad news is,everything else. We checked in and stayed 2 nights before we moved to a hotel on Canal Street. The building is OLD and smells musty. Even our clothes picked up the odor. The windows in the hallways were open even though it was 40 degrees so they could ventilate the building. The entire unit was worn, very small and quite frankly very disappointing. The furniture and floors were all scratched up and looked like it came from the Goodwill. In the 35 years we have exchanged, this is by far the most points and worst exchange we have ever had. Do your research before staying here. Location is not everything!

    Authentic New Orleans Hotel

My family stayed at Hotel Maison Pierre Lafitte in October. First and foremost, all of the staff abided by the COVID rules for Louisiana which was important to my family. The hotel staff was very hospitable and welcoming and really embodied southern hospitality during our stay and were accommodating with every request we had. The location off of Canal has great proximity to the french quarter and connections to the RTA streetcars and buses to take you to and from any destination that you want but we mostly walked everywhere due to the great central location between french quarter and the garden district. We had our car and didn't need to use it all week. We were able to walk to a grocery store within 10 minutes and there is a Walgreens one block down the corner for basic groceries and necessities without getting price gouged by your normal corner store. The hotel and the rooms were nice and showcased the 1840s hotel charm and antique armoire's in our room. There was some basic cleanliness issues but they were resolved promptly by the staff. The space was nice and had views of the city and the bed and pillows were comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking to support a local business (instead of a chain) with authentic New Orleans charm, authenticity and hospitality.

Switched to sister property without communications

Via RCI, the property owner/manager relocated us to a sister property, Jean Lafitte House, 7 days prior to arrival. We were asked to contact the Owner/Manager & tried to do so each day. No one returned our calls. Very poor, first impression. RCI told us that no 2 bedroom Units were available, forcing us into 2 single bedroom Units (2 BG exchange fees, double BG point usage). Upon check in we inquired about 2 bedroom Unit & were told that an RCI employee had reservations for the remaining 2 bedroom Unit. Very unprofessional of RCI to bump members in favor of employees, just to get the additional points and exchange fees. However, the Jean Lafitte House on-site manager/staff were exceptional regarding greeting & providing assistance, local recommendations, etc. Rooms were "old town", but clean. Bathrooms were likely upgraded in the past 3 years, beds were comfortable, but couch was marginal. Heating/air was fine. Stairway, pool/garden area needs maintenance. 3rd floor, street side balcony has three holes in it, big enough to step through. WiFi worked the 1st and last day. WiFi down for 5 days. Unhappy with RCI and property owner. Resort was fine, if you know what to expect. It is sorta rustic, but clean and on the edge of the French Quarter. Close enough to walk everywhere, but far enough away to sleep with little disturbance from vehicular/foot traffic. If you're looking to be pampered this aint it. If you're looking for a local, old town experience this may be up your alley.....but, certainly not worth the ~$1,000 per night listed on TripAdvisor.
