  Very rushed one night visit to see the World War 2 Death Railway and war graves

  Our tour guide drove us all the way from Yangon in one day just to see the famous Death Railway and the War Graves. We should have stayed longer. Arriving late we had to visit the Death Railway the following day, making the return drive even longer. We did visit a nearby Pagoda for sunset but saw little else of this small provincial town. Next time allow at least 2 nights here and more stops on the road for other visits.

  Strand Hotel 2 X 4

  My wife and I spent four nights at The Strand in August while we toured the sights of Mawlamyaing. Our room was very spacious, clean, air conditioned with free (not so good) WiFi. Better to buy a Tourist Sim than depend on local WiFi! More importantly the beds were comfortable. Food was not exactly gourmet but OK. Breakfast was eggs and ham, fruit, toast and jam plus option of Asian foods. Dinner was selected from a large menu which was mainly Asian dishes. Must have been the off season as we were the only guests for 3 out of the 4 days. Staff were friendly and pleasant and went out of their way to assist. On our last day my wife fell outside the Hotel and broke her wrist. The Manager and his staff immediately responded and took us to a nearby Orthopaedic Clinic. They were very attentive and concerned. Previous reviews have commented the hotel is built round the wrong way, which is true, but so what! Your don't go to Mawlamyaing to sit in your room and admire the view! Plenty to see in Mawlamyaing so Hotel is somewhere to eat and sleep. The Strand does that quite well considering where it is.

  Mawlamyaing Strand Hotel

  Located on Strand road in Mawlamyaing. 10 minutes to walk Mawlamyaing Zegyi ( Market ). Among the various facilities are a garden and a shared lounge. At the hotel, rooms include a desk, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom. Rooms contain a electric tea pot, while some have a balcony. Guest rooms include a seating area. The accommodation can conveniently provide information at the reception to help guests to get around the area. Just across the street and enjoy the sunset.

  It's quite good to get 4star rating****

  I stay at this hotel and the hotel is pretty good.But the exceptions are their poor Wifi, dirty windows and the rooms without views(this hotel is in front of the river). And a little bit mosquitoes##These make me to give them only 4

  Best in Town

  Pretty good. Value worth it. It would be better they install another layer of curtain. The sun was raised around 6 and intrudes my eyes although the curtain was closed. Service is good. The room is clean and big even for standard room. Recommanded
