Great personal service and excellent stay

During the gap between lockdowns we held a small business conference here with 2 nights stay. The staff were amazing and helped make sure that anything we needed for the conference or a table for the evening was catered for. NB: My previous review to this was an obvious "off" day for the cleaners as none of the party this time had any concerns about the cleanliness of the rooms. All our rooms were excellent.

    1 night school night stay

I stayed here with my children on a Monday night due to having work done at our home. Aiden from the booking team at the hotel matched a price comparison website in price and gave us complimentary breakfast. We were treated very well particularly by Luke on check in throughout his shift. He loaned me a phone charger m, gave the children complimentary tooth brushes and made them hot chocolate with marsh mellows at no charge before they went to bed. There were Covid safe measures everywhere and lots of hand sanitizer stations. Breakfast was A help yourself continental buffet. A decent choice of pastries, yogurts, fruit and cheese all individually wrapped for extra safety. An excellent selection of individually boxes cereal. The room was spacious, very very clean and very comfortable. We had a takeaway delivered to the hotel which worked well for us as a family as the restaurant was closed. We had a nice view of the lake and we had a stroll round the grounds which were absolutely beautiful. We will be booking again as we had such a great evening and felt so welcome. I cannot find fault with anything at all and at £72 for a family room it was an absolute bargain. Thanks to Aiden and Luke the break was such a treat and you are both a credit to the team at Kenwood.

A Tier 3 House moving sanctuary

Call it madness, but I was ready to move house after 26 years, getting home upgrade work done Feb 2020, hoping to Escape in the late Spring. Woah, that all turned out wrongly, as 2020 has become what it is. So, with intrepid, careful contractors upgrading the house, I find myself, in the Sheffield Kenwood Hotel, a mile or so from my house, here for a few days, (staying in a hotel to move house is allowed, even in tier 3, I checked Gov.uk) removal done by a dream team of Britannia Appleyard guys today in record time. Carpets upgraded, rental organised. The hotel have been brilliant, I emailed ahead to ask if there were tea & coffee facilities, maybe a fridge in the room? There are no restaurant or bar, public area facilities, of course, but the Manager messaged me back to say that I was upgraded to a Privilege Mercury room, which has both On arrival, and I know this hotel, theyve done a brilliant job, tree up, pressies round the tree, twinkly lights, but you cant help but reflect. I spent a very drunkenly well remembered evening with all my loved ones after my sisters wedding years ago. Today mine was one of maybe half a dozen cars in the car park, BBC news was on the big screen, but talking to no one, no hum of people. On 8th Dec, youd expect, well, what youd expect! A few rowdy office Christmas parties, a few mad guys and girls with red Santa hats on. Nope, not in 2020. Room service is only on request, Ive staying a few days, so I didnt need it, wouldnt want anyone to run around after me, Im sure they have plenty to do. Rather than bother reception by being in front of them, there is a WhatsApp number in the room. Pip them a WA message, I had a minor issue with an unemptied bin, they pinged me back a message, saying they would sort it. Abit like sweaty global tennis players throwing and demanding their towels from ball boys, which has been replaced with baskets the players have to manage themselves, WA hotel contact? Game changer. I love that instead of having technology, we are now using it. The receptionist was most helpful, the only room service currently available is pizza (order via WA), Im mostly gluten free, so not my bag, but they have provided a microwave, in front of the closed bar, which I think is a great idea. There is no cooked breakfast, just a grab and go type snack brekkie, but I am well prepared. Gluten free Croissants which can be popped in the micro! Sanitiser at reception, all payments made remotely, sanitiser at all the lift entrances. Just a word, clear the steps of the walkway up from the car park to the hotel of leaves! Dont invite folks to slip on those steps. So I was in room 217, right at the back of the hotel, ground floor, vast. I loved the pale greyish/green tartan carpet, stylish and appealing to my Edinburgh roots. The fridge was as quiet as can be. If you want to take the premoulded tea & coffee tray out of the drawer, you have to remove the kettle, and the mugs wobble off! Maybe youre not meant to? A pretty, generous double bed with 4 good looking pillows, a cosy looking duvet, wardrobe and the bathroom is a good looking thing, with a bath & massive shower head, great shower. I arrived about 4pm after the trauma of all my worldly goods in a van, heading South without me, on 8th December. It was abit cold. And I know that ventilation is a big thing for the plague, but both windows open, two small radiators on a cool setting? Took a good couple of hours to warm up to cosy. I noticed that whilst there are decent window locks, there is what looks like a public footpath outside the windows, which is slightly odd. I was doing some work, when a couple walking two dogs came into peripheral vision, right past my window! Slightly disconcerting. The curtains in the room are abit hit and miss, abit 80s beige suedette fabric, are ruched pelmets still a thing? But I keep in mind the room tariff, whilst slightly wondering in a Tier 3 region what occupancy rates might be? Im not sure I was asked of my reason for booking! Moving house is a legitimate reason. And in my room, the curtains are slightly all different lengths! I dont mind quirky, but perhaps these need to be upgraded in time. One full length curtain covering one of the two small radiators, didnt help with the the cold for a couple of hours, but it eventually warmed up. Plenty of plug points, including one near the full length mirror, a desk with mirror, a couple of really comfy leather chairs and a table if you need to fire up a laptop/ tablet. Slightly odd bedside lights, I think they belong to the curtain era of the hotel, shades abit weird & wonky, but working perfectly. The light on the desk is much more contemporary & stylish. Maybe they are working their way through, but this is a Privilege Room, Id imagine they charge accordingly in normal circumstances? Theres what looks like a smoke alarm, and a fire alarm in the room. A decent wardrobe and luggage rack. Strange maybe that there are no pictures, but I am split on my views! Budget hotel chains tend to have the same pictures regardless of where you stay, those weird lollipop tree mirror landscapes. I can, if I am of a mind, complain either way! Blank walls are fine. So I am into tech stuff, WI-FI working fine, select Mercury. TV, for once with a perfectly working remote control - all a Freeview Channels in the familiar place. Red button not working though. Security - key card to open door (two supplied) one to fit into the gizmo to turn on the lights. I hunkering down for a few days, well done Kenwood Hall so far, a COVID hotel experience. I slept beautifully, bug in a rug, the bed, duvet and pillows cosily fabulous, the shower is great in this room. There is no room laundry or bed making service right now, unless you request it, which I was fine with. I am perfectly capable of making the bed, clearing up a little. Kenwood Hotel is a great example of C19 ready? Yes , Id stay again. Sent from my iPad

    Great stay

I stayed at the hotel for a week after being evacuated from my house due to fire hazard. Upon check-in I received a free upgrade to one of the Privilege rooms which was much appreciated. The room was massive and the view from the window (woods, running squirrels and birds) was fantastic. Two male members of staff at the front desk are a massive asset to the company (sorry guys, I never got your name). Both of them were extremely helpful, friendly and definitely made my stay better. The thing that needs addressing is the breakfast times. On 2 occasions I came down for the breakfast at the times indicated on welcome letter and the breakfast had already finished. Also the water pressure in shower was rather poor, it took me ages to wash my hair and rinse off the shampoo. Apart from that I had an amazing stay and will definitely recommend the hotel to my friends and family when theyre visiting Sheffield.
