  Hotel muy recomendable

  Me he alojado 6 días en este hotel y la estancia no ha podido ser mejor. Es cierto que hay pequeños detalles en la habitación que denotan su antiguedad, pero esto no ensombrece la experiencia global de la estancia. La habitación estaba limpia, la cama era cómoda y la TV es de pantalla plana, aunque no tiene canales internacionales. Si le doy la máxima puntuación es por la bonita y cómoda piscina que es un bonus. Además tiene un confortable Jacuzzi. Si vas en coche tienes muchísimo sitio para aparcar. A 10 minutos en coche tienes el Tesco Extra que abre 24h, (excepto domingos que cierra a las 16h). A 30 metros del hotel puedes coger el bus 15A que te lleva al centro de Ipswich.

  Bizarre, Some good, Some bad, but OK overall.

  The good: Room was large and with good adjustable heating. Shower and bath were provided and worked well. Pool was clean, warm and nice. Breakfast was cooked to order, of good quality and for a reasonable price and with helpful friendly serving staff. The mix of weird furniture, ornate metallic jungle scenes, gilt commodes filled with pine-cones, strange metal figures and overly decorative reproduction furniture provided some perverse amusement. The bad: Reception was cold and dark on arrival at 9pm with no one in attendance (pictured). A sign placed on the reception counter face-up printed in gold writing on red paper asks you to call a cell phone number if arriving after 6pm but was barely visible amongst the plethora of other signs about Covid, Hand washing, spas, rules etc. I missed all of this and was able to wonder about the hotel aimlessly without challenge before getting guidance from the bar staff. My family were not amused waiting in the car during this expedition. Our room (a presidential suite) was supposed to have a sofa-bed as per the description on Booking.com website but a broken floppy camp-bed was provided instead. It was unusable and our kid ended up in our bed with us. The main bed had its own room but without a TV so you couldnt watch TV from bed. Two toilets were convenient but one smelled badly due to a botched exposed drain overflow contraption which seemed to be part of the bathroom design. The suite was set-off with many needless items of furniture including grannys dining table, a bronze leopard, a padded satin coffee table, and an uncomfortable two seat moulded gilt sofa and a nylon shag-pile rug etc. The sound of washing machines could clearly be heard at 11pm. Most worryingly, with all the focus on cleanliness, we found a sock (pictured) from the previous occupant in the room - perhaps it belonged to the President! Even with all these issues on the whole the negatives were not enough to outweigh the positives and we still kind of enjoyed our stay. Bizarre as it was! Final tip. Dont use the free shampoo unless youre going for the Johnny Rotten look!

  Mid week break

  Having stayed here several times over the past few years. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the evening staff in the restaurant,the food was delicious. The one hour allocated in the pool area, was sufficient and towels provided. Our room was upgraded, which was a nice touch, although due to covid,the room was not cleaned,if we needed a top up of tea etc this was readily available. A thoroughly enjoyable couple of days.

  Staycation

  As we couldnt go abroad this year we decided to do a staycation. Belstead Brooke were doing a good deal for dinner, bed and breakfast. We were aloud 1 hour in the pool and you could book your times in (due to covid). We couldnt complain about anything. The staff were so friendly and attentive, the food was amazing and the rooms were really nice. We will be returning

  Such poor customer service

  We booked a table for one of their Christmas party nights back in March 2020. In November it was obvious it wasnt going to go ahead and confirmed that was the case in December. Despite numerous phone calls and promises from Simon (apparently second in charge) that we would be refunded our deposits. We still havent had a refund! Having worked in a hotel reception myself I know how easy it is to do a refund, but for some reason they just wont give us our money back!
