  Great hotel, just a small problem

  Chose this hotel based on good reviews plus I knew it was right opposite east entrance. We had no trouble looking for the hotel upon arrival from bus terminal. Check in staff spoke English and the porter was really nice. Chose a superior room for the bigger space 25m. So as a twin it was big. The twin beds are semi double beds which was great. Rooms are new and are cleaned spotlessly every day. We stayed 4 nights. Lots of amenities provided including laundromat, vending machine, ice, free coffee tea in lobby and room, free 24hr gym with free loan of gym clothes (wow). However do note the sink is outside of toilet which some may prefer. The only thing I had great difficulty with was the lack of any wardrobe or even hooks to hang anything. If you shower, because there is no sink counter, you have to put your clean clothes on the toilet bowl cover closed. Theres no hook at all. In the room, there is no wardrobe or cupboard, only some hangers provided along the entrance to hang on a pole. You cant unpack anything. We lived out of the suitcase for 4 nights. Location is fantastic, hakata station is surrounded by everything you need including the bus terminal. During Christmas there was a Christmas market outside the station which made it very festive. Hotel has a convenience store downstairs but theres like 4 others around the corners. Lots of good restaurants also. I would stay here again, but will bring some gadgets to hang my clothes.

  Good location

  The location of the hotel is superb, conveniently located at the east exit of hakata station. We booked a standard double room - it was comfortable and clean, despite the room being a little small. We usually live out of our luggage, so no issue with having no wardrobe. If you are not used to small room, do book the bigger rooms instead. The laundromat and vending machines are located at level 5. Take note that you will need 100yens for the laundromat (washing 300yen, and dryer 100yen for 30 mins each). There were also a drink machine with coffee or chocolate at a corner of this level too. We had a great time in hakata, and will be back to this hotel if we are ever back.

  Oriental Hotel Fukuoka

  I frequent Fukouka and I recently stayed at the subject hotel. It is a very nice, comfortable, clean and very well located. It is just right outside the Hakata JR train station which is a formidable multi-story building complete with shopping malls, hundred of restaurants and literally everything you may need. The staff speak good English band are most helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended. Will stay here again next time.

  Location. Location, Location,

  In front of train and bus stations going around Fukuoka, taxi fare is around 1,100 to 1,200 Yen from Domestic Airport to hotel, less than 15 minute, never experience a traffic during a 3 days stay at Fukuoka, The rooms for 3 adults is a bit tight, cheaper hotel rates compare to hotels within the same area.

  Will try another hotel before deciding to come back

  Our family booked 3 rooms: (1) one double bed - it was extremely small. Smaller than the other two rooms. There was not enough space to open the 2nd big suitcase in the room. (2) two twin beds - it was the most pleasant compared to the other 2 rooms. There was enough space to walk with luggage opened. (3) two twin beds plus an extra bed - this room is just as big as (2). The extra bed occupied the space between the bed and the window, which means there is only limited space to walk around. There was no closet space. Just one bar behind the door for hanging coats. The fixed shower glass was not convenient for parents to help young kids to shower. When raining, one may get wet without any umbrella if trying to walk to Hakata station. Though the distance was not far. We drove back to fukuoka from elsewhere and planned to return the car after unloading the luggage at Oriental. However, there was no official parking nor drop off area for the hotel which made it very difficult and inconvenient. It took us 20 mins driving around the whole block in busy traffic in order to find the very limited self-parking nearest to the hotel. And it wasn't helpful in a rainy day when we also didn't really know the best way back to the hotel from the car, with 2 big suitcases, a bunch of handcarries, and a pre-schooler.
