  Beautiful hotel in Bali, Crete, Greece

  Great hotel, had initially room in Apartments (my booking error). Apartment rooms are very spacious, but view out the back, but great choice when with children and on tight budget. Ill We were able to upgrade after 3 nights to a beautiful room with sea view in the village part of the hotel- village rooms are living arrangement in Greek style, beautiful and with attention to detail. Staff was very friendly and accommodating; food was great. We felt lucky to be able to upgrade, which would have been likely challenging during peak season when all rooms are fully booked. We would have been ok in Apartment room, but really prefer to sit late afternoon / night and sip retsina while watching sunset. So, this accommodation by the wonderful manager made our holiday. Would return to this hotel! We actually were there may 2017 (not May 2018 as shown- Trip advisor did not allow for correct date choice)- this review is re-posted because I noted an error when I originally posted this review, stating incorrectly the review is for a Bali Safari tour, when it is actually a review of the Cretian Hotel

  Cancel while you can

  Met by quite a rude and sarcastic guy on reception - though the other staff we met later were all very nice. Despite its location by stunning coast, most rooms have no view at all, with tiny windows. Their outside areas open on to the common stairwells, not to the view, so have no privacy. The rooms are small and fairly dark. We had not noticed the smallprint that airconditioning, along with the use of the safe deposit box in the room, cost extra. In July airconditioning is essential here. It is not that expensive (6 euro per day extra), just feels a bit petty. Breakfast is ok, served in a busy cafeteria-type area without airconditioning. It is a crowded and noisy resort full of families. Music blasts everwhere all the time. We wish we had booked elsewhere - probably an inland hill town, as there seems to be little trace now of the traditional fishing village that Bali once was. Sadly, it is now just a very long strip of similar accommodation, and shops selling souvenirs. The beach is mostly concreted over. A sad example of what mass tourism has done to the beautiful places of the world (and yes I know I am part of the problem!) We did find one very nice taverna on the recommendation of a local - family-run, food delicious: Taverna Gallini.

  Family friendly, smokers friendly with good views

  On the plus side the pool is good, views from poolside are good. The staff take good care of the gardens, the breakfast staff work really hard. The rooms are effectively cleaned daily. Our arrival set the scene. No one at reception and once found surly guy was sarcastic. The air con which is necessary costs about $5 a day. It would be better to pay extra & have it included. Though it breaks down and the manager said he fixes 6 a day. Does the manager like his job? He enjoys a late night drink with customers and smoking all day. People round the pool smoke. We haven't enjoyed our stay. The place has plusses, hard working cleaners & breakfast staff but grumpy rude manager, paying daily for ac, No must be happier places

  Best location in Bali.

  We honestly thought that the location of the hotel is the best in bali as it is away from the main attractions but close enough to walk to in 5 min, very close to the nicest beach in bali - evita bay. Staff are nice and have a relaxed attitude but are very helpful. Breakfast was very good with quite a good selection of sweet and savoury. The views from the hotel are stunning particularly if you get the room facing the water. Overall we were very satisfied and would recommend it for sure.

  Steel family

  We had a great week.Staff very helpful,including the manager who made us food on our arrival at 2am! Lovely pool with beautiful views of mountains and sea. Lovely planting on balconies and around communal areas.Would have been good to include air con in price,but mot too expensive.Bali had some very nice cafes and restraunts,people friendly.Staff in dining room very hard working and very friendly.Thanks for a relaxing family break.
