    Raffles Hainan

    I was greeted at the entrance by very courteous staff. Lynn has been amazing and helped us with all our needs. The food and beverage is great. Thanks Alonzo. The spa staff were great. I had a massage yesterday and today and I would highly recommend Ayres and Jessica. We had dinner tonight at Sapori and the food prepared by Chef Allen was most delicious.

    Worse service ever , is there any management??

    The hotel is nice but service were very poor. Upon arrival, the bell boy mistook my hand luggage and sent it to different room. It caused me stress ( all my important items and documents were in this bag) Minimum apology by front desk manager . It went downhill from that day !! Too many to detail it down. From laundry to breakfast . Everyday we have to complain to get service . Please if you have another options dont stay here.

    Mixed experience and great opportunities to Improve

    Sanya is a great Destination and we experienced it several time at Park Hyatt, Capella, Shangrila-la and Raffles this year. Having a break now in Raffles in a nice 2 bedroom villa with a cosy Pool. Unfortunately Raffles rank the last. Despite nice hardware, nice pool and nice complex there are too many opportunities. Positive note : Food is great so congratulations to the kitchens ! But there is basically no service, and an absolute lack of customer mindset. Understood how busy .... Which is what all teams are stating all the time. Too many bad experiences in few days which apparently no one cares about. Loosing luggages, room not ready, when ready, in fact missing items like... Towels, and others..... Restaurants service is non existent, except Eric from Italian Restaurant, so we end up dining outside (which is great) and are confirmed about how consistently bad Raffles Restaurants are during lunch time. Certainly short of staffing. Met this 1 great person Eric in an ocean of bad service. Definitely training opportunities across basically everything you can think about. Seems like management (is there one ?) should pay more attention to this and to their teams. Often bad service is the result of people not trained and not taking care of. And as a consequence of course they dont care. And one last thing : WiFi doesnt work in 2020. Lets see if 2021 will fix the wifi. So have not visited all Sanya hotel but for the 4 above, check the 3 others prior to Raffles. By comparaison Park Hyatt service was flawless the 3 times we went there, Shangrila-la was very correct. We gave Raffles a try and learned. Will be last time I am afraid. Take Care, Yann

    The Hawaii of China in luxury

    Overall stunning, In the nine days spent here with my partner, we experienced Raffles and Clearwater Bay, and it was spectacular. On our first day of arrival, we were treated with a display symbolic of our love for one another, pictures included. This early display of caring and attention to detail by Mary Lan was replicated by so many of the staff during our stay that you can stop reading and go! Sure some things weren't perfect, but they came with good reasons, most of the time. And, understanding the rest of the time. On our room: It was beautiful, sea views looking out over Clearwater Bay, a place I would try to swim and body surf in daily during the trip ;). The room we choose was the Grand Delux King at 861ft. A full bathtub, separate shower with overhead and side angled faucet. Separate main toilet with bidet and seat warming functions, to name a few. The bed was huge and wonderful with a choice of nine pillow options - I tried all and what they first put was the best, for me - go on choose your own! The desk, overlooking the ocean was well-appointed, being not only a decent size for working or writing to loved ones, but also with a lovely leather pad to make the art of writing a joy. There was a Nespresso machine in the big kitchen, single sink and enough space, including a fancy microwave/convection oven for meal preparation. Two big TVs Sony were at each end of the room when undivided - didn't use them more than once. However, the picture and sound quality were what you expect from the Sony brand on those few occasions. In the entry was a suitable landing area with galley toilet and powder room, for those moments you may be in a rush, have to clean something dirty or want to go to the bathroom at the same time as your partner :) The balcony was spacious with full lounge (two comfy chairs a table and couch), A table decent size with four upright chairs, and two sun lounges and still ample room for yoga with the mat provided - tip ask for one more if you both do yoga, they'll happily supply it. In no time you'll be doing your Sault to the Sun watching the sunrise over Clearwater Bay! The hotel would take an age to write about from the exceptional staff at breakfast every morning who wen out of there way to make fresh oat milk by request every morning!! Or really whatever we wanted - we were not told no. Even once in the breakfast buffet!!! The real stand out employees, who often acted like butlers ;) were as follows: Owen - the director of operations, helped us no end, it seemed. From recommendations to organising a truly wonderous spa experience - my first full body scrub ever - Soooo good, try it! Alonzo - director of food and beverage, how wonderful to meet this caring individual, he made sure our dates went well, and we bonded well during our stay. A standout professional. Lynn - also a food and beverage manager, trained in France and her eye for excellence is clearly on show. Charles - a manager with the front of house team, a wonderfully kind and generous man, regularly went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. With my Chinese not being , he invited me to contact him for anything - I had cause to send him a message, he called me on his day off! Larry - Desa restaurant manager, who helped us daily when available and even helped us prepare a gift for the management :) - enlisting the help of the pastry chefs to make it happen. Jerry - is a dedicated manager in food and beverage, orchestrating an excellent background for our smooth experience while indulging. Eric - a gracious host who bonded with us over one of our many on-site restaurant dinners. We share an interest in swimming in the ocean, perhaps next time we can surf a few waves together. Jane - was all too happy to share with us, recommending us to a local Lingshui restaurant when we had to go that way to redone our COVID tests. Tom - Desa restaurant supervisor, just lovely, great conversation and took care of us. Walt - genuinely wanting to create meaningful experiences for the guests, and we were no exception. An individual who truly enjoys, and has got the art form of serving others exercised as enjoyment. - Who we only met once, and she did make an impression, also responsible for creating our welcome to the room displays! Happy - Another English speaking front desk manager who though we never met, always seemed to be smiling when talking with her on the phone. Tommy - A fantastic chef local to Hainan, skilled in creating a fabulous meal, the eggs with fresh avocado for breakfast, or the red sauce vegetarian pasta for one of our many date nights here. In the Spa we had, or perhaps a better term, we were had by Sharon and Ayres. Wow, I'd tell you more, but my drooling got in the way - extraordinary relaxation the day before we fly again. The outside pools with waterfall features and other cool turtle water features is a winner. Towel station areas around the pools and on the beach mean you don't have to take a towel with you or bring the wet and sandy one back, bonus! The food - excellent Hainan food and Chinese food overall. Avoid the burger if you are a burger lover. I could not find a good one in Sanya! Otherwise, as the Aussie's say Go for gold! The gym we used almost daily, and the upgrade, Owen told us about this on the last day, sure made a good impression on us during the entirety of our stay. Surrounded by luscious beaches and fantastic Dong Bei influenced Hainan culture was splendidly idyllic, and we look forward to never downgrading again!     Fabulous

    We decided to spend 12 nights at this resort hotel and after a couple of issues checking in, the hotel and management didnt stop until our magical holiday was perfect. Breakfast was a real treat and open until 11 am which is perfect for those who do not want to rush! Theres two swimming pools to keep you occupied and the private beach is wonderful. A short stroll to the harbour or to watch the sunset in the evening is close by too. We ate dinner at the Italian restaurant which was delightful and in room dining was fantastic and reasonably priced. The staff around the hotel made us feel very welcomed and I know from speaking with the resort manager that he is really developing this service further. A massive thank you to Owen (Director of Resort) and the Duty manager Charles who went above and beyond to ensure we received 5* hospitality. We will definitely return in the future!
