Great hotel and experience - Summer

Front desk support was terrific and the fernie suite was wonderful (keurig, toaster, fridge, kettle and microwave). Roomy and updated with a very comfortable king bed and pillows. Bike room available as well as bike washing station. Parking available on site and 2 blocks from the Fernie pathway system. Will visit again.

    Nice little hotel

Decent hotel. Nothing fancy, and a VERY FRIENDLY front desk manger. Room was very clean, and included hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies. Beds were okay (maybe time for an upgrade) and room was a bit musty. Received a "bagged" breakfast due to Covid19 (Muffin, apple, yogurt and coffee/tea supplies) There were a few party animals, although, we weren't disturbed by them, but looks like they were tossing beer cans in the parking lot. (Disgraceful) We picked this hotel because it was a pet friendly hotel. (we had our small puppy with us) There is an indoor pool, however, we didn't use it. Great Indian restaurant about a block down the street, for take out only for now.

    Home from home

As a foreigner to Canada, the Red Tree Lodge in Fernie was the epitome of Canadian hospitality and spirit. My partner and I stayed at the RTL for three weeks (Dec19-Jan20) whilst on a skiing holiday. My partner had previously stayed at the RTL for 3 weeks to 3 month stints in previous years, and always spoke fondly of it. There are no words which will fully capture the RTL, but here is my long winded tuppence worth! Food: 1. Do not stay at the RTL if you want to loose weight- the portions are massive! 2. The dinner menu varies in style each night which means you get a good variety of food. The food is freshly prepared and cooked with what is clearly a significant amount of pride. 3. I was really surprised with the amount of vegetarian options each day. The RTL chefs clearly cater to everyone and like to try new things! 4. There is also a comprehensive salad bar and dessert table (you will be full, but you will have room for dessert when you see them all sitting there)! 5. The breakfast buffet has something for everyone, and is always served with a kind early morning smile! Facilities: 1. The pool and game room are located next door to one another. They are a great size for socialising/letting kids entertain themselves. 2. The hot tub and sauna are the perfect way to end a day! They are kept very clean and well maintained. 3. The movie room is such a sweet touch and its a great communal space! You can also link up your laptops. 4. The bar/restaurant is a real hub of activity! Its always got someone going about or something on! The pleasant surprise for me is how well insulated the noise is- you dont hear it in the living quarters. 5. The kitchens on the residential floors are big, clean, and well stocked with cooking utensils. They are a fantastic space for hanging out or cooking big family/communal meals Rooms: 1. The beds are super sized (by British standards) and so so sooooo comfy! Especially after a long day of outdoor activities! 2. Each room has a fridge plenty big enough for storing a weeks worth of food/snacks/drinks... admittedly... ours was mostly beer and doughnuts... 3. The coat pegs along the wall are a brilliant but simple addition for hanging up all your outdoor gear, whilst the drying rack in the bathroom area lets you drip dry or plug in boot heaters etc without bringing them into your living space. 4. The bathrooms are clean, great water pressure and the showers have really handy beer shelves!!! Yes!!!! Beer shelves!!!! Ok... maybe they are for your toiletries, but screw it! Beer! 5. There are chest of drawers as well as slide and remove containers under the beds, so plenty of storage space! Staff: 1. Jon the Manager is honestly one of the sweetest souls I have ever met, and his temperament clearly reflects throughout his team. He is always on hand to assist or just have a laugh with you. 2. Echo. Echo is Jons family pug. Echo is the real boss of the RTL. Echo knows everything. If you like dogs... stay here... there are so many dogs! If you dont like dogs then please dont worry, they are kept on leads and stay on a specific floor. 3. Florence and Peter will look after you in the bar and restaurant. They are incredibly sweet, kind and attentive thank individuals who will greet you at 6:30am with a warm smile and coffee! 4. Casey! This guy will get you to were you need to go with a smile on his face and a lot of great stories! He is a responsible and calm driver, knows a lot about the area and will always help you if you need it. He is a genuinely nice person. Utilities: 1. There are so many idiot proof laundry rooms! I packed for just over three weeks in Canadian winter thinking I would be wearing about 10 layers each day with no washing facilities. I was wrong! My luggage could have been a lot lighter! 2. There is a secure boot and drying room downstairs which is ideal for all your equipment! I had the most special Christmas of my life thus far at the Red Tree Lodge. Once this pandemic is over, RTL, here I come!

    2 nights

Nothing fancy but well equipped, clean and comfortable. Very friendly staff. Didn't try the pool though occasionally could smell the water. Multiple entry ways make loading and unloading easier. Restaurant closed due to COVID but enough other places open. Actually, it was quiet despite being so close to the highway - and I'm one of those sensitive folks! The Communal Kitchen room down the hall was closed but I could see that when open, that may be a source of noise into the hallway - though a handy facility to have and use!

    Fav in fernie

My husband and I come to fernie a couple times every winter. We always stay somewhere different, a hunt for fernies "hidden gem" if you will. Room wasn't fancy but it was clean, comfortable and had everything you need. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. Their hot tub area was clean and the smell from the cedar just adds to the experience. The fact that we had it all to ourselves (covid) was fantastic! They gave us a little bagged breakfast for the morning. Muffins, yogurts and apples. So far this is my favourite place to stay in fernie. Especially at this price point. 2 thumbs WAY up for red tree Lodge.
