    VERY DISAPPOINTING & NOISY

We spent a lot of money to book a special Christmas holiday at Les Couer des Loges which we chose because it appeared to offer ski in ski out, a swimming pool and wifi. It FAILED MISERABLY on all three counts. Pool closed for half our stay in part due to a child pooing in the pool. Couldnt ski out from our block at the start of our stay, and wifi never worked at all. ROOM SO NOISY IT SHOOK and was difficult to sleep. At this point I would like to stress that I have never written a hotel review but was so upset by the dreadful value for money we got from MMV, and their response to our complaints, that I felt compelled to write this. ONLY MAIN BUILDING TRULY SKI IN SKI OUT. We arrived to be told we had been upgraded to a room in the chalets which turned out to be on the other side of the main road. The upgrade added a balcony but, as this was right next to a busy main road, I doubt any one would want to use it. When we went out to look at the access to the slope, we found it impassable as you had to cross a rocky stream to get to the piste. However, the staff insisted this was not the case, but when we asked them to take a look they wouldnt. We found others in our block complaining about the same thing. Others said they had taken to carrying their skis across the main road, into the main hotel building and down the lifts to reach the ski slopes. Towards the end of our stay, some work was done on the access and snow compacted over the stream so it was then possible to ski out. NOISE Our apartment (pictured, ground floor) was right next to the busy main road. When snow ploughs and lorries came through at night and in the early hours of the morning, the whole apartment shook! This made it quite difficult to sleep! MMV STAFF- The final straw for me came today when I received MMVs response to my written complaint (six weeks after submission). Marie has written back implying I am lying! Apparently the route to the piste was only bumpy from usea rocky stream is not bumps! She also tells me that her reception staff overheard us being rude about them in English. I presume that means they overheard my husband saying they were useless. But this was not said to them, was away from the desk, and to be fair, seems hardly surprising when, having spent a lot of money expecting a special holiday we were extremely disappointed and felt our complaints were not being taken seriously. My husband is bilingual and, had he intended to be rude, he would have made the comments in French. Looking on their website tonight I see they say the hotel is Located a few meters from the ski lifts Incorrect! Its half way down the Betex ski run. A ski lift passes in the air to the side of the hotel, so technically you may be able to argue it passes several metres above! - but its a lot further if you actually want to get on it! Its sad that this could be a great place to stay if it was properly managed, had full time reception staff, someone overseeing the pool to make sure the many small children were kept in check some staff training in customer service would also help!. The good points were a nice restaurant with lovely friendly staff and a great supermarket across the road. Although quite new, the furnishings were a bit tired and stained. We were apparently the first people to stay in our apartment for the season, so I dread to think what it will be like at the end of it! DREADFUL VALUE FOR MONEY.

Modern, convenient, but some simple things could improve

MMV is well located about a 10 min walk from central Les Menuires. It's ski in/out on the Bettex run which is a flat ish narrow ski road (not suitable for beginners). The accommodation is nice and modern, and the price is reasonable. It has a spa, free wifi, a boot room, and dogs are allowed. Overall, I would recommend this as good self catered accommodation. It is significantly better than the majority of tiny self catered apartments. However, I find that there are so many different room types available, and the pictures are all generic, and I have some other feedback which MMV have ignored...so here are my thoughts. Plenty of pictures attached. We booked the 5 bed premium apartment, which is very spacious. It has a capacity for 12 people, but we shared it between 7 people and it was just right. They always count the sofa as a double bed, so I always search for an apartment for 2 people more than I need so everyone gets a room and the sofa is available for lounging. I find most french ski accommodation misleads you like this. The apartment had a huge hallway, and absolutely massive wardrobes in each room (so big you could sleep in them)! You could comfortably fit 9 people in this apartment. After that, it's a squeeze. This particular apartment had a double bedroom with ensuite, 1 double bedroom with shower (no toilet?!), 2x double bedrooms, and a bunk room. It also had 2 separate bathrooms, and 2 separate toilets. It had a spacious kitchen with everything you need, a massive living area, and a big balcony with an awesome view of Le Masse. It's on the top floor, and you couldn't hear any noise from the neighbouring apartments. We had 2 lockers in the boot room, Overall I'm pleased and impressed with the apartment. Will definitely stay there again, but here are some negatives which MMV need to address...some of which were given as feedback a few years ago and have been ignored. 1. Their website is terrible. When you try to search for a saturday to saturday booking, it says nothing is available (whatever dates you put in), and gives you all sorts of weird alternatives. However, when you use another website such as booking.com, the dates you want come up. The catch is, if you book direct with MMV, you get a few extra perks, which you don't by booking with booking.com etc. However, no matter what I did, I could not make their website bring up ANY dates I wanted. Also, when you select English as the language, half way through, or when there are pop up menu's, it reverts back into French. I have contacted MMV about their website, it's been 3+ months now, and they've ignored me. 2. The wifi doesn't work. They boast free wifi to attract you in, but as you can see from the speed tests I did, it only provides 2Mbps (you need a minimum of 8Mbps to do basic things like emails/whatsapp etc to actually work properly). However, my 4G connection delivered a whopping 71Mbps. I tested in the apartment, the lobby, and the results are the same. I heard someone complain to reception, and basically they knew it was useless, but tried to fob you off given most people are only there for a week and will put up with it. When I stayed there 3 years ago, it was the same...so basically it doesn't work, and they've made no improvement to it. 3. The shower head in the ensuite bathtub, can only go up to a maximum height of about 5ft because they mounted the rail too low. There is ample room to mount it higher, so that anyone who is not a dwarf is able to use it, but whoever installed it didn't think of this practically. 4. The other bedroom which is advertised as ensuite, doesn't actually have a toilet. You have to use the seperate toilet in the hallway. So this bedroom is not actually ensuite. Ohh, and this separate toilet, doesn't have a hand basin in. So you have to carry you germs around to a bathroom or the kitchen, touching the light switches etc on the way. Disgusting! 5. The website is very vague about room configurations. It says some have bunk beds, and others have regular double beds. I wish they could be more specific as it makes a difference. This particular apartment had a bunk bed, and I don't think there is another like it, so a normal bed in that room is not an option. However, the 4 bed premium apartments we stayed in last time, did have a regular double bed vs a bunk bed. 6. Because this is a premium apartment, it included a parking space and early checkin (12 noon). We got an email ahead of time asking for arrival info, and we said we'll be there before 12 noon and will need 3 parking spaces in total. They tried to tell me that checkin was after 5pm, and that I had to pay for 3 parking spaces....the lady communicating by email was not very good at 'communicating' and seem to take days to respond (it's like she checks emails once a day). Good think I took a screenshot of the booking.com advert when I booked it, because I had to use this to prove it to them when we arrived at checkin. Only then did they agree not to charge more than I should be paying. 7. It would be nice to use the pool/spa. But they give a random number of free passes with your booking...not even enough for 1 each per person. So I've never used it, although would have liked to. 8. The 2 lockers in the boot room very large and generous compared to some of the other lockers, but they're designed for skiers. If you had 12 people in this apartment, you would not be able to fit 12 skis and 12 pairs of boots between them. We are all snowboards, and we had to carefully arrange everything between the 2 lockers to fit 7 boards and boots in there...there was no space for any more. I hope the pictures help somebody else make an informed decision, as we found it very hard to decide if it would be suitable for a group given all the pictures provided by MMV are generic and you have no idea which apartment configuration they represent. And maybe by putting this feedback on TripAdvisor, MMV might actually pay attention and do something about their areas for improvement.

Great facilities, Perfect Ski in and Ski Out. 100% Recommend

Great stay, there were 10 of us and had a fantastic time during our stay. Ski in and Ski out is some of the best Ive ever seen in 20+ years of skiing (and working as a ski instructor). Recommend to go top of Roc 1 lift to the Roc7 bar for apres. Les Menuires has a lot of charm and the recent investment has hugely helped. Restaurant recommendations: Au Village and La Capricorne
