  Never a 4*

  First the positive, and only one. Your room got cleaned daily. And thats the only positive believe me. Food is average in the buffet restaurant at best. But the snack bars around the pool (pizza, gyros ect were much better) Entertainment in the evening was every other night and the acts were poor apart from the belly dancing act. The Greek night never materialised (cant remember what night it was supposed to be on) so that meant 2 nights without any entertainment. Now onto the pool bar, when it opened till 5pm Joanna staffed it and was brilliant, friendly, helpful and you could have a laugh with her, but from 5pm till close a guy called andreos staffed the bar. He would turn up for work at 1p.m and drink till he started his shift (and continue doing so till the bar shut at 12. By the time he started every day he appeared to be quite drunk, aggressive and very short with people and this continued throughout the night, every night!! On more than one occasion he was very sleezy and rude to my wife and the wife of another couple we met saying to them both at the bar you dont know what I would do to you both in the bedroom. Totally unacceptable and we heard from a few more guests similar stories that he had said similar things to them (women)to during their stay. Last point and probably the worst was a German child in the kids pool (with the slides) pooed twice In it whilst I was in it with my little girl. I told the life guard who did nothing, then told the receptionist who again did nothing as 2 days later both poos were still in the pool and had both been trodden on. Disgusting stay well away from this hotel.

  Disappointment! Wasting of money, you pay for 4-stars and you get 2-stars!

  At first I want to say I will not speak here about restrictions caused by COVID situation. We had booked Junior Suite room with private pool. The room smelled by must and mold. Room was not properly cleaning, we found some food under the bed after previous visitors. On upholstered head of bed were dirty staines. Mildew/mold stains were on lamp shade. Mildew was on the window curtains. At least curtain was replaced after our complaints and floor was cleaned again. Air-conditioner stinks terribly when is turn on. The hygiene is basic requirement if you want to feel comfortable. So it was was shock get room like this in 4 -stars hotel. There was no kettle and no cups in room. Hotel does not provide little (take-away) meal/some refreshment in case you are going on whole day trip and you will miss breakfast, lunch etc... It doesn't matter that you have all inclusive. Poor choice of meal in Snack Bar and very low quality. Meal does not look and even does not taste good. Especially the burgers. There is no toothbrush cup in the bathroom. Hygiene items were missing (no shampoo, no shower gel..). There was only a little hand soap. There is no twine/ cord on the terrace where you could hang wet clothes... The hotel produces a large amount of plastic - all food from the snack bar and drinks from the Liquide bar are served in plastic.But there is a shortage of trash bins in hotel area. Trash bins should be cleaned more often, or more baskets need to be added. We have already visited many hotels (4-stars and also 3-stars) but this was a big disappointment. Because of very low level of hygiene, offered service and equipment condition I rate this hotel as 2-stars, not 4-stars. We choose this hotel depends on previous good reviews, so we were unpleasantly surprised how this can be marked as "Traveller choice"?! Maybe the level of hotel was higher in previous years, but in 2020 it is different story!

  Great Hotel and facilitys

  We stayed here for 10 days from the 9th of August to the 19th and we loved it, we went with our 3 kids 13,13,3. They loved the slides and spent most of the day on them and our 3 year old loved the small pools and baby slides.There are 4 pools and one adult, and you could always find a sun lounger to lay on. Pool bar was cool and serve burgers fries etc which where nice, the bar guy Andraos and girl maria they work there was good and quick and was always able to have a chat with them. Breakfast, lunch and dinner where a buffet style that the girls and guys would serve up to you as you pick due to covid, there was always something to eat and different varieties each day and we found it very nice, the girls in the restaurant are very nice and always smiling and say hello each time especially Marianna in the restaurant who would always make you feel welcome and is a credit to the hotel..thank you!! Hotel is in a great location next to shops and beach is only across the road a short walk down, we would definitely recommend Rethymno Residence hotel to anyone that wants to visit the amazing island of Crete and we are already planning to go back next year.   Honest review

  We stayed here for 2 weeks in Aug with my partner & 6year old. This wasnt the best all inclusive hotel Ive ever stayed in. Rooms - They were nice, nothing to get excited about. They were only cleaned every 3days which is not ideal especially under covid. Food - breakfast & lunch was fine but evenings we struggled some nights to eat. We ate out 7nights out of the 2 weeks. Due to covid, parts of the restaurant was closed off and you were given your food. Really poor for kids, my daughter really struggled. The snack bar served burgers, pizza, gyros, noodles & chips. The pizza and gyros were lovely the other snacks were not great at all. Ice cream was free from the snack bar. The hotel information describes it as multiple restaurants this is not the case. Drinks - Alcoholic drinks were very limited considering it states house spirits included. It only included wine, beer & 4 horrendous cocktails. Everything else was chargeable. No bottled water! Which was very annoying. It was cheap enough from the shop however its not the point. Pools - the main pool was fab. The adults only pool, which actually had kids in there didnt have the pool bar open so you did have to walk round. Water slides - great for the kids but personally theyre should be a lifeguard. My daughter was ill on holiday with an ear infection & had a bad reaction to the antibiotics resulting in being sick in the restaurant. I spoke to reception to see if we could get a room with a pool so we could be away from everyone etc they wanted to charge me an extra £800 but then reduced to £300 even though the room was available. Not once did any of the staff ask if she was okay or if we needed anything considering we had visited the local doctor. The town is a short bus trip, really easy. Bus stop just outside the hotel and get the tickets from reception. Town was lovely! We ate at the local restaurants from the hotel which were fab! Beach - if you turn left at the hotel and walk down till you see a banana beach bar, get to the beach from there. The beach is a lot nicer! The food/bar on the beach next to banana bar is beautiful! Also Mango bar was lovely! Wouldnt visit the hotel again but definitely Crete :)

  Dreadful

  The Rethymno Residence Hotel is by far the worse all-inclusive hotel i have ever stayed in. There is only 1 bar open near the family pool. If you're using the adults only pool you have to go to the other pool for drinks. There is VERY limited drinks available on the All-inclusive- wine, beer and a choice of 4 cocktail. There are no local spirits despite it being written on the correspondence handed to us by the hotel. Spirits have an additional charge as does ice cream. The food is mediocre. An email advising the travel agent of this terrible hotel was sent on our first day. This hotel is Abysmal. Ive rated it as 1* as that is the lowest rate I can give it
