  GOOD LOCATION

  Good location, friendly staff, clean rooms. Perfect for business trips - near the capital Sofia and the mountain Rila. We were there for two days and were using the hotel for a beginning point of our journeys .

  One word: EXCEPTIONAL!

  I stayed in Dupnitsa for about two weeks on a business trip and I am so glad I found this hotel! I cannot begin to tell you how well-cared-for I was during my stay there. The front desk staff was phe-nom-e-nal. If you needed anything at all, they were on it immediately. Recommendations of what to see around town, where to shop, where to go for a run, where to exchange money, ... they never hesitated to help. Most of the staff spoke excellent English and I never had any problem communicating with them. Even when I ran into one of the employees after hours at a local grocery store, she smiled and greeted me warmly. Nobody was paying her to do that. The location of the hotel was very convenient. It's directly on the main square in town and it gives you a wide range of restaurants and shops to visit at your leisure. The rooms (at least the ones that my colleagues and I stayed in) looked like they had been spit-shined. Everything was clean, new and in perfect working order. The decor was crisp, modern and very comfortable. The mattress was a little stiffer than you might find in other parts of the world, but hey, this is Europe. I really wish I had taken more pictures of the decor, but the pics they have on this website are very representative of what I found in my room. And the hotel staff came by every day to switch out towels and linens as needed. There were plenty of power outlets, a desk, a mini-fridge and a sleeper sofa. There was a flatscreen TV as well, but I never ended up turning it on as it seemed a shame to waste my time watching TV when there was so much else to do within walking distance. As far as noise goes, I stayed in a suite on the sixth floor and heard not a sound during the entire time I was there. I tend to be a very light sleeper and carry earplugs with me whenever I travel, but they weren't needed here at all. It was Q-U-I-E-T. The hotel restaurant? Let me just say this ... the food was excellent. Soups, main dishes (stuffed peppers, vegetables, potatoes, etc.), and let me not start on the desserts. I had, without a doubt, the very best custard-style yogurt that I have ever tasted. There's never a shortage of bread and olive oil and, if you have any special dietary needs, just let them know and they will tailor your food to suit your requests. And then there's the spa. Honestly, you'd be foolish not to take advantage of it. it's quite extensive and very easy to use. They have a steam room, three different types of saunas, a jacuzzi, a pool, and more. And everything is exceptionally clean and worked flawlessly. Massages are also available, but I didn't opt for one of those. During my stay there, I also noticed that several professional sports teams stayed there as well. Volleyball, soccer/football, etc. If those kinds of athletes are staying at this hotel, it's not by chance. It's because they know they'll be well taken care of. If my travels ever take me back to Dupnitsa, there's no question where I'll be staying. And I hope you won't miss out on the incredible experience of staying with the folks at Hotel Rila either. They've got a quality operation running here.

  Facilities but needs renovation

  This is probably one of the better hotels in Dupnitsa in a nice area but that is as far as it goes.The rooms are in bad need of decoration. A paintbrush would do no harm. The Aircon leaks water (in all the rooms our group had). The Breakfast is poor quality and the one domestic coffee machine results in long queues. The bathrooms are in good condition but slippery and the old style bath with no shower curtain makes this even more dangerous. The "Spar" has a nice pool, a whirlpool, sauna and steambath, and is clean, but again a dangerously slippery floor. The car park fills up quickly but there is municipal parking (no survellance) nearby. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is located near a square with cafes and bars. There is a 24 hour manned reception.

  Great service in a nice location!

  I was really impressed by the service in this place- they were very helpful and really accommodated me, even as my plans were changing. It's also great value for money! In the negative column, the spa was meh, and the water in the main pool was cold.

  Had a great stay in hotel RIla Dupniysa

  My girlfriend and I were a bit unsure when we read all the reviews. Fortunately, it was better than we expected. Rooms were clean and modern and the SPA center was very good compared to hotels I have paid twice more to stay at. We chose the hotel because of the convenient location and it was a great strating point to explore some of the most beautiful places in Bulgaria. There are many places in the area a man should not miss if they decide to visit the hotel. We went to the Seven Rila Lakes, the Rila Monastery and the Ovcharski Waterfall and all of the places were more than worthed to visit. We really enjoyed relaxing in the SPA zone after a day of exploring. I believe part of the great experience we had was because of the friendly staff who were always willing to help. They told us about places we would have missed otherwise. Maybe one thing I would like to add is that they can modernize the entry door as it doesn't match the modern experience we had at the reception, the rooms and SPA center.
