  Spa during covid

  We had originally booked a different spa in April, but it got cancelled due to the current situation with covid, we had to pay a extra 50 pre person to go to this spa, which I dont think it was worth to be honest. The place is very big with lots of different twists and turns, lots of stairs, not sure if I actually saw any lifts? We arrived and got checked it straight away the room was pleasant, spacious and clean. Beds were comfy, it did feel a little cold though. We had afternoon tea, evening meal and breakfast included in our over night spa package. The afternoon tea was standard and enough to go round. The staff were polite and attentive and made us feel welcome. We then got changed in the room ready for our spa experience, which you can also use the changing rooms in the spa facilities too. Temperature check on the way in, track and track and hand sanitizer too, which was expected in the current climate. The spa was nice, with steam, suna and salt rooms, jacuzzis, experience showers, foot spas and a hydrotherapy pool.There were a few loungers, but not enough for all, It was quite small and in normal circumstances I can imagine it to get quite busy. We had a treatment included within the package, which was very nice and the ladies were extremely professional. It didn't feel like we got a lot of time in the spa and the relaxation room was separated from the spa area. Felt good to unwind and relax!! The evening meal was of a high standard, with a lot of choice , drinks were very expensive though. The Ringwood Hall is nice, but once you've been, I personally don't think its somewhere you would go more than once. The hotel caters for weddings, which I think they must do a lot of.

  Living off the grounds

  We stayed here for 1 night and was sadly disappointed overall. The hotel is in a beautiful settings and the grounds are amazing as is the building from the outside, sadly though the overall experience is lacking in many ways. On check in we arrived to a grumpy receptionist who did not seem overly interested in being there. We had our daughter with us so I asked about the swimming pool. I was promptly told that children are not allowed as this is an adult spa and this was clear on the website. Firstly I have no problem with such a rule and we did not go there for the spa. I did however mentioned that on hotels.com this is not made clear anywhere, the lady denied that was the case but the hotel should check their advertising and make sure such facts are clear on all booking websites they use. Our room was a long walk from reception and up and down 3 flights of stairs so not ideal. The room itself was OK for one night but not great. The website makes a huge claim about Covid-19 and the "deep clean process" but the room was pitted full of dust from many years. The room did not even have a light touch clean let alone a deep clean. The mattress was well worn and bouncy and the place just felt a little tired. We ate out in the evening but did have breakfast at the hotel which was also disappointing. It seems they have moved from a buffet breakfast to a table service breakfast due to Covid which is fine however they were simply not equipped or adjusted to this. It took 1 hour 30 to have breakfast with a small porridge and then full English. There were two waiting staff who were clearly overworked and were struggling to get orders right. We asked for soya milk and got normal milk and no drinks when the full English arrived there were long spells where we just sat with no idea what was happening. The overall impression I get is that this is another hotel that suffers from a problem I see a lot in the UK tourism industry and that is maximum profit for least interest. That is to say limited investment in either the facilities or the staff or in training and general lack of interest in having high standards, it is the "that will do approach". With some proper management, a vision and some investment in the staff and their training and some pride this magnificent building could become a magnificent hotel.

  great weekend everything perfect

  We had a marvellous weekend here, wonderful staff lovely hotel traditional but with a modern twist. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Everything ran like clockwork. We had the twilight spa break and thought it was very good value for money. The hot stone massage was lovely and the spa facilities although limited were all very good. Altogether very impressed with the hotel and ground. We had a sneak peak at the rooms they used for weddings and they were beautiful also very large marquee in the picturesque grounds. can't recommend enough.

  Excellent stay

  I stayed at the Ringwood for 5 weeks in November during lockdown, while working in chesterfield. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, the food was amazing (room service), sunday lunch to die for, they even Left a bottle of wine in my room on my birthday, will definitely visit again.

  Poor customer service

  I have a business trip within lockdown guidelines and need an overnight stay. This establishment discriminated against us and refused to take our booking. They not only took nearly 24 hours to respond to an enquiry but also refused access without any solid grounds to do so. It was a very sad encounter for us and we will not be using their services ever with this atrocious level of service.
