  Deflating and disappointed

  I looked forward to staying in your best room possible type. Top floor ambassador suite. My wife and I arrived and were a bit disappointed to be honest. Not sure how you get $450 a night for that. The place was spacious and a decent view. The bed was really comfortable also. However thats where the positivity stops. The room was very outdated and bland. The furniture looked like it was from a second hand furniture shop! The tv remote excitedly had a button for YouTube, Netflix, Stan etc. only to work out none of them are active on the tv. A few measly free to air channels and thats it! The configuration of the room was very strange! Two wet areas on opposite sides of the suite. Whats up with that. When you get out of the spa to go to the toilet for example, you have to completely dry off before you walk across the carpet to get to the toilet. The carpet itself had stains and fading from where previous furniture had been placed. The tv was right in the middle of the room on a central cabinet facing bed. Thats great but what about when you are sitting on the couch? My wife and I had to pick an end up each and turn the tv around. Not cool. No minibar or any snacks to choose from for purchase. Our room didnt even have a guest book from the hotel telling us things like what facilities are at your venue. Things like what time does the pool close? wouldve been handy to know! The room didnt even have a bible! The connecting door to the suite next door rattles so I had to jam paper in there to stop it. And you could hear next doors tv through that door as well. Expected so much but you came up really short. I got a discount on the room yet felt I overpaid. It needs a spruce up big time. Needs new paint colours, cabinets, decore etc. the bed was the exception. Its like the room used to be a storage room. Not for me again Im sorry. 3/10

  Front line staff make the difference

  Good hotel, easy walking distance to city centre. Spotlessly clean but carpet needs replacement. My 5 star rating is because of frontline staff. Janine on reception is outstanding. With a lobby full of check-ins and other guest enquiries we noted she remained calm, professional and on-point. No other staff came to assist, yet Janine handled everything in a way that Rydges would be proud. Also big shout out to bar staff, extremely professional and friendly made after work drinks an absolute pleasure. We will return mostly because of great customer service.

  Very good customer service from the Hotel manager Garry. Room service was very quick and the beds were comfortable and rooms are soundproof making it the best sleeping conditions. Also had a very good view from our room.

  limited poor customer services.

  1, the cattle supplied for in house tea, was RUSTY, with BLACK DIRT SPOTS after boiling water 2. room not cleaned even we asked next morning, no bath/shower amenities added for the next day, no room Vaccum has done, even toilet brushing not cleaned or brush provided. 3. AC was loud and noisy, so we stayed without it.

  A comfortablem quiet central Geelong hotel

  A quiet Sunday brought me to Rydges Geelong where I had a comfortable stay and a restful sleep - except for the bedside alarm clock that rang at midnight (note to self: unplug those things before bed). Lovely, friendly staff; very comfortable bed; everything very clean and tidy.
