  Really disappointed....

  I was looking forward to enjoying a B&B stay and it looked great on the website, but once there Kings Daughter did not live up to what it could be. Frankly, it feels like the owners have not quite finished or have finished an d have taken their eye off the ball. The receptionist was nice enough and front hall was beautiful, but my room had plaster peeling off the walls, no good plug ins for electronics, drawers that are not balanced to stay closed (they hit your knees as you shave), there was no Holy Bible in the room and the breakfast was just OK. A little bit of time, effort and pride in their offering and the owners could make this a place that could really do wonders. But as is, it is not worth the stay.

  Road trip oasis

  We were passing through Durham and needed a hotel for one night. Wow! It was a terrific experience, and I was sorry to leave. The staff is friendly, and the 17 rooms are all lovely. The rooms are left open if no one has checked in, so you can peek around a bit. They deliver the port and chocolates early (5:30ish), so ask for yours if you check in later. Our family of four was in the large Farthing Suite, and my boys were pleased to have a room to themselves. I enjoyed drinking a glass of wine on the sun porch, and I had coffee in the parlor the next morning. Breakfast is delicious, with lots of options. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, and its easy to walk around the Duke campus, too. We ate at Goorsha, an Ethiopian restaurant (yum!).

  Beautiful old hotel

  Great location next to Duke east campus. Unbelievably clean and spotless. Very large exceptionally well furnished rooms with comfortable bedding and very stylish bathrooms. Very quiet. Breakfast included in price was very good. Friendly staff. A++ place to stay.

  Wonderful experience

  Recently we stayed at this inn and we were very pleased with our room and the friendly hotel staff. Ifeyinwa made me an excellent delicious breakfast, scrambled eggs with spinach and onions and served with homemade pumpkin coffee cake.

  Perfect for rehearsal dinner and weekend with family and friends

  My son was married in Durham in March. We rented the whole inn for the weekend for our family and friends to stay with us, and to host the rehearsal dinner Friday night. We felt lucky to have discovered the Kings Daughters Inn -- a perfect fit. All of the guests loved the inn's charming ambiance, it has the feel of a large, stately, comfortable home. Our rehearsal dinner spanned the first floor, from the dining room to the parlor, with the bar in the sunroom. It was a wonderful setting for our evening together before the wedding. The staff was enthusiastic and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfasts in the dining room were casual and relaxed and the food delicious. Highest recommendations!
