    Oh dear!

A reasonable location for access to the centre of town. The property is in very poor condition. Its awkward trying to access the lights and power switch for the room and without the power activated by the key, the fridge didnt work! Its very old but I think it was clean! I wouldnt stay there again.

Very Poor Customer Service - Don't Expect Any Resolution if There's a Problem

Stayed 27 July. First off, let me say that the room was comfortable and whilst I would have preferred a better rate than the $125 charged, I was willing to pay that price. BUT.... Around 10.45pm planned to have a hot shower but NO HOT WATER, despite running it for close to 10 minutes - what a waste. Next morning, again NO HOT WATER - this around 8am. Asked to speak to the manager, not available. Spoke to 2 staff, the first said that they "had problems with hot water", then spoke to Kelly who said that as it is an end room, sometimes need to run water for 10 minutes. I said that this should have been mentioned when I booked and/or on check-in. I asked for a PART refund, Kelly said she was not authorised but would speak to the Owners when they returned the following week - I could expect a telephone call from them. After 2 weeks, no phone call, so I phoned Toreador. Again spoke to Kelly who said that the owners Jane and Jason Kelly, had said no to a PART refund. I asked whether it was unreasonable for me to expect a follow-up call, to which I could not get an answer from Kelly. I said that in the absence of a call from Jane or Jason, or a resolution, I would be placing a review. Kelly's response - "Go Hard with the review, there are no hot water problems and you phoned 3 times before making your reservation". (SO??) Very professional all round Kelly (and for that matter Jane and Jason) - a credit to your industry - NOT.

    No complaints at all

Second time I have stayed here overnight with my dog & this time with my partner, the renovations look great, very fresh. both times we have stayed i have not had a fault. Obviously being a motor inn it isnt luxury but when you need a real room, a hot shower & a comfy bed, this place is awesome. Always friendly staff too. Love the dog run they have created too, everything about this place in on par with price, location & dog friendly, will be back again

    Lipstick on a pig

The hotel is probably 1960s and the room I had had been renovated. I only stayed here as I was driving with a dog (first time for everything). The room was tiny, reminiscent of its age and despite Foxtel featuring on the neon signboard you actually had to have a Foxtel subscription to cast using the hotel wifi. There was no Foxtel for those without a Foxtel account. The bathroom had been fully renovated and sparkled like new. There were few powerpoints and I had to unplug the jug to charge my phone. The airconditioning was supplemented with a fan and was effective. You wouldn't stay here for more than a night. It is OK for a traveller driving through but there is nothing to commend it for a stay longer than overnight. It is on the highway so the trucks are noisy and I wasn't able to get back to sleep after 4pm and was gone by 6pm. It is not worth the price I paid and I wouldn't stay here if I wasn't staying with a dog. Whilst reasonable for its age, there is no way it is worth $140 which is why my rating is a 3. Resort style apartments at Korora and Park Beach are priced similarly and are on the coast. While this hotel is walking distance to town there is no advantage in going to town apart from cafes and shops. My friend who lives in Coffs did mention this hotel has many homeless people staying there who are placed there by the government department responsible. While it wasn't an issue I was aware of ensuring I didn't leave valuables in my room when I went out. No after hours staff reside onsite but telephone number provided for emergencies.

    Would not recommend

It was cheap, and it was nasty. The property is very old and barely held together, and whilst it was the cheapest motel in Coffs, there is a reason for that - you get what you pay for (we chose here as it was pet-friendly). We had to brush our feet off before we got into bed due to the state of the floors. The fire alarm went off at 4:30am either due to it having flat batteries, or it being faulty. When I mentioned to the staff that it would be nice for us to receive a minor discount for not getting a restful nights sleep, I was declined (by the owner/manager via the staff) and told that I should have called the after-hours number to have the situation resolved. The owner/manager did not have the courtesy to speak to me to discuss, or apologise. So this is where the compliments end. Plenty of options in Coffs Harbour - dont chose this one. Definitely would not be recommend. 1 Star.
