  Fabulous food in an isolated rual setting

  Villa Dafne is set in the Sicilian hinterland, which provides great scenery and peace, but means it is very hard to reach. The food in the restaurant is extremely good, though vegans may struggle. For 20 euros you get a 4 course dinner, mostly made from ingredients grown on the farm run by the owners, together with a litre of local wine and a bottle of water. You know how good it is when 100 plus locals turn up for Sunday lunch. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, but lack some of the things you would expect in a city hotel. The sound proofing between rooms is poor. The staff are friendly and helpful, but don't expect all to speak English. The chap in reception told us about the nearby train service that allowed us to see the sights in Palermo, Monreale and Agrigento without using the appalling local road system. The included tour of the farm and cheese-making was interesting. The cooking lesson was very hands-on and very enjoyable. And we got to eat much of what we cooked for lunch.

  Perfect relaxing break in beautiful quiet countryside

  We were looking for a quiet non-touristy location from which to explore Sicily. One which gave us the option to self-cater or eat out. Villa Dafne met all our requirements and more. The staff were friendly and the service excellent. The rooms were a good size with an adequate kitchenette. The restaurant food was good and reasonably priced. The views around Villa Dafne are fabulous. We did a couple of the walks suggested and explored surrounding Sicily by car, visiting Agrigento to see the valley of the temples for a bit of culture; Cefalu for the beach; Palmero to play golf and drove around the Enna and Caltanissetta regions. I would recommend Villa Dafne without hesitation.

  Pleasant views, awful food.

  This place bears little resemblance to the farm it once was as all buildings are newly built, although some room are already showing wear and tear. The views arrive but the roads to the site are in a terrible state of disrepair with three major areas of damage on the only road to the property. Being out of the way in open countryside one needs to travel considerable distances to see major attractions. The food is very poor apart from the fresh fruit salad at breakfast, and dinner is just not worth eating.

  Unique holiday!

  Guiseppe ( actually both Guiseppe's)and all the staff were great hosts. The farm visit was much better than I expected and we loved the cooking lesson. The scenery is superb. The rooms are a little tired and ready for some decorating, but very clean and comfortable

  This is a precious gem in the mountains. Peaceful, relaxed, great views, perfect facilities if basic. The food that is served through their restaurant and for breakfast is simply delicious - I have missed the yogurt, ricotta, starter selections, pasta, pizzas etc etc since arriving home. Th staff are all very friendly and all work so very hard. The family should be very proud of what they have achieved here - for a get away break with total relaxation you couldn't ask for much more. I would suggest hiring a car from the airport - despite the roads being a little hairy from time to time - its a great location to go off and explore to both the coast and the villages in the mountains. If I was to make any recommendation for improvements - it would be to have a cushion to place on the sun loungers - they are super hard to lay on all day and maybe a little old. The other would be to open the restaurant from 7pm not 8pm from October. We did stay later into the season and maybe this is not such an issue when the summer is in full swing - but in October when it gets dark at 5.30/6pm its a long wait until dinner. However well worth the wait....:-) I'd rather not tell too many people what a gem this is as I want to be able to book back in here again..!!!
