  Upscale hot spring resort

  Visited this resort for a day. Even though it is located an hour away from Taipei. It is a well designed resort with swimming pools and open air hot springs. The grounds are filled with cherry blossoms. The restaurant is very good.

  Got 87 bites all over my body

  One of the pool I went to (not hot spring) was right next to the slide, when I went in I already saw a lot of dead insects laid on the bottom of the pool, I checked out the view from there, tried the buttons which supposed to have water coming out after pressed but none of them working, I stayed like 5 mins in the pool, after that I felt my body very itchy. In mid night I couldnt sleep at all the itchiness made me crazy. Right after I came back my hometown I went to see Dr the same day, he checked and found water in some of the red spots and total there were 87 bites (see picture was part of my back on the 3rd day after bitten)!!! I then had prescription to prevent itchiness. Now on the 4th after my return the spots were still there. Overall the hotels hygiene had an issue, it was old and without good maintenance, white slide turned rusty, one of them even being blocked with plastic straps. Spider webs everywhere in outdoor area, the basketball court was like abandoned for years. And the welcome drinks many guests received when check in didnt come to us. Air con in room was noisy, many plugs were not working. The only surprise from the hotel was the food, no matter breakfast, room service and dine in dinner were all good with high standard. One accomplishment went to the lady who received my case of bites, she did check my red spots seriously and passed me ice to cool off the spots and a can of Mentholatum when I checked out. P.s. my stay was from 30/4 - 1/5, 2019 @Room 1315.

  A lovely stay at suburban area of Taipei City

  A wonderful variety of natural hot spring treatments and excellent quality and variety of food. I would recommend getting there early to enjoy all the different spas on offer, bearing in mind that some features close earlier than others. One point with mentioning is that the explanations for each pool is only in Mandarin which is hard for foreign visitors to read.

  Stay in room with hot tub

  Hotel is located in the mountains, great view and outdoor facilties, with lots of hot spring baths. Room is a bit old, found a few ants and mosquito in room, may be due to its location in the mountain and the sulphuric atmosphere. Bed is still clean and comfy, but poor sound proofing, noise from upstairs conference room. Good staff and breakfast.

  Comfortable enough, but old and dated

  We stayed here for two nights. There are two buildings and we stayed in the Japanese Wing. Both wings are similar size in terms of their building height. Our first room ended up having no WiFi , so we ended up changing rooms. Our second room was larger but in a lower floor (3rd floor as opposed to 5th). This second room was large enough to fit two double beds. There was enough space for seats and coffee table; TV and cabinet; and sufficient wardrobe space. Generally the rooms had a dated feel to them. There is a balcony looks over the hotel gardens and to the mountains. Although we were not on a high floor, we still had a really nice view. The balcony also houses the onsen bathtub, which is the feature of this room, so you can have a relaxing bath outside. There is another door connecting the tub to the separate shower area and toilet and sink. Towels and the provided toiletries were basic but sufficient. Toothbrushes and similar items were available on request rather than already placed in the room. The hotel caters for children in that there is a kids playroom at the main wing. Its a fairly big room with climbing and slide facilities, which kept the children entertained enough. The pool and spa complex was of decent size. The outdoor water slides were open for use if you wanted to play in them, which we did and it was fairly cold in the winter air. There are outdoor and indoor spa pools of varying functions all for use as well, which were relaxing. There is also a public onsen for nude bathing, but we didnt use. The gym looked quite small in relative terms; the basketball court was empty and a bit dilapidated; so as their small farm. They advertised a mini golf course but I couldnt see it within the grounds. So generally the leisure facilities were not that great. Breakfast was in the other wing so a three minute walk from our building. It was a buffet type with an adequate range of local and international foods and drinks. No particular dish stood out. The restaurant itself was clean. We also tried another restaurant in the hotel. This one had a different decor to it than the breakfasting restaurant. We ordered a la carte, where prices and food were ok. The hotel is a little on the remote side so youll either have to take a taxi, bus or shuttle car to get to places. Overall a comfortable enough stay was had. However, it is not five star as they claim. Generally the hotel is showing its age and staffing could be a lot better for the rating they have.
