  Nice hotel marred by theft (by the hotel) of a cashmere sweater

  I have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions (because it was close to my parents house when they were alive) and frankly have always been happy -but my last stay was a few years ago and something happened on that trip that upset me and has bugged me ever since. I have decided to share it. I stayed in the hotel for a few nights with my family and had a pleasant stay. Unfortunately, when when we left, my wife left a new cashmere sweater in the room that had cost me about 200 pounds. No problem, I thought, I'll call the hotel. So. I called the hotel and spoke to the staff. They confirmed that they had located the sweater and had it - and asked what they should do. I requested that it be sent to me via post (because I live about 200 miles away) and they promised to do that. The sweater never arrived. I called them a few weeks later and queried this - and this time - they could find 'no record' of the sweater. It had mysteriously vanished. They also could find 'no record' of it being posted to me. Clearly, someone in the hotel decided that they would quite like a new item of clothing. This has annoyed me intermittently for the past couple of years whenever my wife remembers she lost that particular jumper. I realize that life is too short and perhaps it's best to let these things go, but, nonetheless, it has always annoyed me. Anyways. My parents are now sadly passed and I have little occasion to stay at the hotel again - even if I wanted to - which, given this experience, is questionable. A shame - because I liked the hotel - I thought it was reasonably priced and I had some happy memories of some trips there. A shame that my memories should be tainted with this unfortunate incident really.

  Superb service

  We sadly had to attend a funeral and we stayed for one night at the hotel. Reception with Abi was brilliant and all Covid rules followed. The room was clean and comfortable with a great shower. Breakfast was a grab and go bag but with good choice abs theyve certainly done their best during these difficult times. The hotel team including Gemma and Hope (and Abi again!) provided a wake for the family. They were polite abs respectful and gave us a very very good morning coffee buffet plate. It is very easy during these times to be critical of places but we couldnt fault the team at this hotel. Thank you so much.

  Avoid!!!

  Agree with the previous reviews... Poor customer service and poor health and safety... when it is snowing or freezing definitely avoid this place as unsafe for vehicles. Overall experience very poor and will not return.

  Business Stay

  Recently stayed here for a business trip. It is very handy as just off the M1, it was quite though considering how close to the motorway. The room itself was clean and comfortable. Had room service in the evening, the southern fried chicken burger is very tasty! The hotel is doing a great job in the current lockdown and felt safe during my stay, plenty of hand sanitising stations around the hotel and staff were seen cleaning regularly whilst I was there.

  Wedding Bookings

  Be aware if you book a room to attend a wedding and its cancelled due to COVID you will not get a refund on your room as the hotel may still be open. We have lost hundreds of pounds to this hotel. I know they have had a hard time through Covid closures but they are trying to minimise their losses from customers who have had equally difficult Financial Times.
