  Nice place to stay with a family

  We spent one week in August 2008 in Tregastel, Brittany in the Castel Saint Anne by Belambra. It is a self catering residence where you can also find a restaurant for the evening. We booked an apartment in a small cottage named "Penntis". These Penntis have been recently renovated and updated with modern equipment (flat screen TV, duvet, hard Bultex matresses, microwave,...). The apartments in the main castel Saint Anne were not yet renovated at the time we were there. We spent a very nice week. The customers are mainly french but some dutch, english and german families spent also a holiday week in this resort. It is located in a very quiet area near the village of Tregastel (500m) and it is 150m far from the beach with a nice view on the rose granite rocks. The staff is very helpful and speaks german and english. There are activities for the children with clubs often open but not full time. It is not a high international resort standard but a good middle class family vacation resort. The structure of the buildings remain so it is perhaps not very well insulated but the neighbours were respectful and we had no problems.

  Gorgeous apartments in a great location

  We stayed in a 1 bedroomed Penntis at the Clue Le Castel Saint Anne last week. It's relaly centrally located in Tregastel, just a minute away from the lovely sandy beach with the associated bars, restaurants, cafes and Aquarium. The Forum is currently being removated & won't open until 2010. The apartment was very well equipped, with a flat screen TV in the bedroom (we couldn't gain access to the connections for our hard drive or dvd player as it's boxed in), comfortable beds (bring your own pillows), a very well equipped kitchen with good sized fridge/freezer, electric hob, dishwasher & microwave (no oven), and a very simple sitting room area with a 2-seater sofa. The bathroom was spacious with loads of storage but no shower curtain - the heated shower rail was a very welcome addition. Le Castel is a 2 minute walk from the village centre where there is a market on Monday mornings. It's a 10 minute drive from the hypermarches in Lannion and the same distance from Cosmopolis. It's about an hour's drive from Roscoff but over 3.5 hours drive from Cherbourg. There is NO swimming pool on site, as the beach is so close by.

  been back few times

  Our family loves Brittany - this part of Brittany is my favourite - love the walks on the coastline in this part of France. During the summer it's not too hot. We've been back to this location 4 times now over the past 7 yrs. Newly renovated self-catering units. Quiet surroundings.

  Value for money

  We stayed in a small apartment (separate living area and bedroom) which could have been a lot cleaner. Despite this it was well designed, comfortable furniture and a kitchen you could really cook in - dishwasher, stove and microwave but no oven. The first of our six nights was in a down stairs apartment which was dark. The friendly staff arranged for a move to lighter accommodation the next day. Close to beach and restaurants and easy walking distance to shops.

  Nice holiday let

  First, there is no pool. Their website has a photo of a large indoor pool. It's actually a pool at a nearby beach, and it is not part of the Belambra complex. Second, there is no free wi-fi in the rooms. There is a sign at the front desk that says that there is free wi-if at the desk; but you have to pay for the wi-fi that is available in the rooms. Third, our apartment filled with cigarette smoke. It was smoke from a local brand, so our clothes, etc., ended up smelling like burnt rubber. Fourth, the bathtub was extremely slippery when wet. There was also no bathmat or shower curtain, so we got the entire bathroom wet whenever we showered. Beyond these things, the apartment was very nice. It had a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, TVs, etc. And the complex is in an excellent location. You are close to two beaches, and trails that take you along cliffs of pink granite. I putted around Brittany for a few days, and the most beautiful views included the cliffs just a few minutes from the Belambra complex. And there are a clutch of about five restaurants near the complex that served the best food we found in Brittany.
