  Good value, easy, clean

  Kelly was very helpful with helpful with easy check-in, recommendations for dinner that were right on spot and scoured up a bottle opener when I needed it that evening. The hotel was recently renovated and they went without carpeting, which comes off a little odd at first but gives you high confidence in the cleanliness. My wife and I were pleased with our stay, the staff (Kelly specifically) and the price.

  Very nice place to stay. I really liked the updated design. The continental breakfast was one of my favorites. The staff was very friendly and helpful . Special thanks to Silas Patel... Helped with computer issues, and helped with airline documentation..

  Hotel Threatened to Call Police

  This was far and away the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We were in Rochester for a family funeral and midway through our stay the daytime manager, Kelly, called saying our reservation was up and we needed to leave our room. Without allowing us to figure out the situation or giving us the benefit of the doubt that we did have a reservation for the night, Kelly, unprovoked, threatened to call the police and put our belongings out on the street. Flabbergasted, we reached out to our third party booking company to confirm our reservation. Luckily, they were able to straighten out the situation, though they confirmed Kelly was initially rude to them as well. When Kelly called back to confirm our reservation for the night, she was not apologetic and did not accept responsibility for her hostility. Instead of comping the room, she offered to open a rewards account with 3,000 points (~$25). We had stayed in this location for 5 years and have family who have stayed there for 10+ years. We will never stay here again. Avoid if possible.

  Interesting Decor

  This is now a Clarion Pointe Hotel located in a nice neighborhood about 15 mins from the University of Rochester with a variety of food options nearby. It is a small two-story building with no elevator. Hotel staff (especially Adam and Jess) are professional, helpful, and courteous. The overall decor is informal business style which takes a little getting used to for visitors over 25 years. There is free parking and complimentary coffees, hot choc, and various teas in the lobby. The rooms have limited furniture but are clean with free Wi-Fi, Direct TV, and ample charging ports. The floors have no rugs but are shiny and clean. In the guestrooms, the washbasin is located outside the bathroom adjacent to the guestroom entry door and the shampoo/conditioner are in dispensers attached to the shower wall - which is different but acceptable. The complimentary breakfast consisted of bagels, cold cereal, hot oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, juice and coffee. Decent hotel for short business trips or visits. Overall good stay just be prepared for the modern decor. Would stay here again.

  Disappointment

  This rope try has been updated, but poorly. I stay at Choice properties often, but this was not up to their usual standards. Unfortunately I had booked one at the beginning of our trip for money and one at the end with points so we stayed twice. I was really hoping the first room with the moldy shower, super noisy refrigerator (I unplugged it) and the space heater was a fluke. Nope, the second room was worse. The door would barely close, the shower again was moldy, the painted floors are cold and the mirror was coming off the wall. The breakfast area is not clean and even the coffee was empty once and cold the morning we caught our plane. Pics attached, but they dont do the disgusting rooms justice. Never again.
