  Not Great

  The smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in, the bathroom was tiny and not as clean as you would like. Its a long way from the town centre and the bar/restaurant are quite basic. The pizzeria is very good though if you don't mind the little dog wandering in and out of the kitchen. Will stay somewhere else next time in Biel.

  hotel secondary to restaurant

  On a roadtrip, I don't make reservations. I arrived at 10 pm on a weeknight, as other hotels in town booked up. Nice welcome and assistance with parking. But rooms are clearly neglected with housekeeper/cook being overloaded. Non-working bed light, TV remote. Two soap bottles in shower - both empty. Fixtures of mixed vintages, utility. Not sure whether duvet & pillow covers changed. At breakfast, two inattentive waitresses, while older woman responsible for all rooms and most cooking. This appears to be a hobby business; too bad star ratings apparently based on type of facilities rather than quality.

  Visited on my hiking route

  Clean, basic little hotel, in swiss level cheap but was ok and maybe newly renowated? There is pizzeria in same house, and bar, did'nt use them. Owner was friendly, made my booking in simply and quick, gave information ok. Sleeping okay, but noise from street started early in morning. In the morning breakfast was not very good, and I waited long time before the staff notriced me and brought coffee (I was the only customer in restaurant). A youg girl was cleaning the room, she never noticed me with smile or nodd or anyway. Older lady bringing coffee was friendly but there was not very much to eat.. But, anyway it was good value for money and clean, peaceful room was nice surprice!

  Disappointing

  We thought that Biel would be a good place to stay in the Bern region. The hotel looked fine from the outside but was pretty shopworn inside. Our room was spacious and had obviously been renovated but "on the cheap". Although the room was clean, the carpet was thin and the furnishings very basic. We paid 150 Swiss Francs for a double room with a sparse buffet breakfast. According to the signs in the hotel, the hotel was non smoking to comply with the regulations of the Canton of Bern but there was a strong stale cigarette smell pervading the main floor. The proprietor was pretty loud and obnoxious that didn't help our impression of the hotel.
