  Not a walk in the park

  We had to stay at the green park as the hotel we were staying at double booked us. The beds were rock hard and covered in stains. We also got the opportunity to share the room with cockroaches! The shower was luke warm and toilet had stains on it.... The Hallway lights meant that the room was lit all night and extremely noisy until 2 in the morning. The hotel has a wonderful beach so I recommend the location just certainly not the hotel, unless you like not sleeping. Overall the green park hotel was not a walk in the park.

  A great low cost but functional budget hotel

  I chose the Green Park Hotel for its location: by Dutch Bay beachfront, close proxity to town, away from the more touristy Nilaveli beach area. I had a really good 4 nights at the Green Park in a big double bedroom with air conditioning, fan, TV, fridge and big bathroom on the top 3rd floor. The bathroom had good natural ventilation and every dries quickly even in the hot and humid conditions. The restaurant serves very good quality Sri Lankan and other cuisines. I highly recommend the Sri Lankan set breakfast. Don't expect your food or drinks to arrive quickly, but generally I find this is not unusual by Sri Lankan standards. Highly recommended if you are looking for a functional but simply organised hotel experience.

  The Hotel is 1 star .. we didn't stay in, came to have our breakfast in there restaurant, the food were delicious and staff are friendly.its clean with good atmosphere.the hotel close to the beach , good location.

  Good, inexpensive food

  A tuk tuk driver recommended this place for lunch. Extensive menu, including some western foods. Very cheap. Very clean, including the washrooms. Lots of cooling ceiling fans as well. Highly recommend this place.

  Special beach barbecue meal.

  For a special treat one evening during our stay in Trincomalee we ate at the Green Park Beach Hotel. It seems that on Fridays they have a beach barbecue option not available every night. Chefs were set up out on the sand cooking amazing seafood. For LKR 2500 for two people you had a fish soup starter followed by a platter of items from the grill. Included were 2 soft crab, 2 whole fish, 2 langoustine, 4 King prawns, cuttlefish, chicken, some rice, a few chips and a salad garnish. The service was excellent, as was the atmosphere. The only very slight issues were it was a bit dark - our candle lamp though lovely didn't quite provide enough light for the fiddly things. Also the odd dog roaming expectantly.
