    Dirty and Loud Room - But at Least they Don't Wear Face Masks!

    Our stay was the end of June through the beginning of July 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have listed the problems below. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is the staff were NOT wearing face masks. 1) Supposedly due to COVID-19 there was no room cleaning, swimming pool or breakfast. 2) Our room was dirty. The microwave had a crusted substance covering the handle and keypad. The silverware had dried, stuck on food. 3) The smoke detector was hanging by wires from the ceiling. 4) The shower head leaked and sprayed water from the back of the shower head into the ceiling and bathroom. 5) There was no bath mat so the shower tub was EXTREMELY slippery. 6) On the morning of 6/30/20 I went to the front desk and requested: towels, bath mat, toilet paper and coffee creamer. I was told they would be delivered to our room. They never were. 7) Due to point 6 I went to the front desk and requested the above items. We were given all but the bath mat. I almost fell in the shower multiple times. 8) Upon returning from the trip I received an email with a "receipt" showing I was charged $10.00 per day for parking. The website clearly states the parking is complimentary. We had considered staying at the Marriott next door. It was the same price as the Hilton, but they charged $10.00 per day for parking. We chose Hilton because they state parking is complimentary. I confirmed this online and via phone, yet I was charged for parking. 9) The rooms are loud. You can hear people in other rooms. Outside sounds are very loud. The air-conditioning units are not under a window like most hotels. They are in a locked closet. They are loud and the one in the room next to ours vibrated the bed.

    Many Failures

    This is the 6th Hilton property, and 10th hotel overall, I've stayed at since the pandemic began in early March. This is the first time I've seen both staff not wearing masks (to protect guests), and no shield protection at the front desk (to protect staff). Neither of these precautions cost much nor do they take much time to implement, but it makes a guest feel much more secure. I would rather not interact with anyone at a hotel right now, so having the front desk take minimal precautions is the minimum that I expect, but most Hilton properties seem to be exceeding my expectations. The only reason I saw that they were not taking precautions is because the digital key, in the Hilton app, did not work on the outside doors. It worked at my room door, but seemingly no where else, so I had to come inside to get a regular key. I also was not able to choose a room at check-in, as I normally do. I was given a room on the first floor (something that hasn't happened to me in many years due to the preferences I have stored) in a poor location. The room itself was run-down, and with the already poor impression I had regarding the hotel's lack of commitment to keeping the hotel clean and safe, made the room feel much worse than it probably was. I had a 2-night reservation, but left after one because I just did not feel comfortable there at all. When I got back, I got the folio by email and was charged for parking. Not only does that go against what's on the property's official web site, but I never indicated that I had brought a vehicle. I realize some properties do this to get a little extra money, and I have no issue paying it if it's simply a matter of me not seeing it when it was clearly in the hotel policies, but it is not in the hotel policies. I could have gone with another nearby property that I had a previous positive experience with, but decided to go with this out of convenience, so it was especially disappointing to have such a negative experience with a hotel; particularly a Hilton property. Generally, I stick with Hilton as a brand because you can expect a certain level of quality and commitment, and they seem to have a standard and high expectation of their properties. So this was quite unexpected and reflected poorly on the brand.

    Hard pass

    I stayed a this hotel this past weekend. We checked in and were advised they do not have the room we requested but only a smaller room. They did not offer a lower rate for the room so we asked if we would still be charged the higher rate. The woman working the front desk said no and told us the fee would be lower. Well today I check my bank account and see I was charged the incorrect original fee in addition to another large sum. I called the hotel now to get the charges straightened out but the woman I spoke with was rude. Not sure when the additional $$ I was charged will be refunded. Also, the kitchen and shower in our room was dirty. Mold and other black stuff inside the shower was extremely gross.

    Will not stay here again

    This was a short stay 9/30 to 10/2. I had booked my room online using the App and requested the digital key. When I arrive I had been informed that they switched my room without informing me. I inquired at the front desk as to why I was changed and the only reason that was offered was that the room had become unavailable. Fine I thought. I hope the room I was given was comparable. I arrive at the door to my room and I should have noticed something was amiss when the blue sticker was not on the door. Turned on the lights and the light in front of the door did not work as well as the light flickering in the Bathroom. I decided to inform the front desk in the AM because it had been a long day and I was tired. I unpack, eat the meal I had picked up and went to bed. The next day I decided to make some coffee in the coffee maker. I open the lid to pour water into the tank and I noticed movement. Closer look and the coffee pot was filled with ants. Other issues I notice in the morning was the cleanliness of the bathroom was not up to par. There were hairs on the floor that were not mine. There goes that day. I informed the front desk and was told that I could bring the coffee pot down and they would swap it out. I had to get to work and told them that they could swap it out and fix the lights. I get back in the Afternoon and the light by the room door was working, the coffee pot had been replaced but the bathroom light was still flickering and now I had coffee stains on the floor. That wasn't me, since I could not make coffee. Mask rule is non existent here. Many of the staff do not wear masks and when I approach, it takes them a few moments to remember they have a mask around their neck or they do not try to put it in place at all. I will never stay at this Homewood suites again. And it makes me question how Hilton guarantees the cleanliness and/or safety of the people that stay there.

    Good Location; Sanitized Rooms

    Stayed here recently. The room was clean, fresh linens, staff friendly and helpful. We were traveling with a pet for the first time ever and were concerned about fleas (our pet is indoor only). We were impressed with how clean the room was (carpet) and believe they may disinfect carpet b/w guests with pet. No fleas on our pet! The kitchenette is not much to brag about and lacks a lot of basics (no non-stick pan for eggs, no sponge/brush, no paper towels, one or two cooking utensils max). We avoided the breakfast due to Covid-19 concerns. There was plenty of hand sanitizer in the lobby and near front elevator. Laundry facilities very good - bring quarters. It is located close to many good restaurants and shops that deliver - like Target/Whole Foods. We would stay here again.
