Surprising dishes, a very creative chef in a laidback ambiance

Love this restaurant. No pretence from the chef. Just one lovely creative well prepared dish after another. Served with a friendly smile and well advised wine. We spent a lovely evening. Took a sneak peak in the tiny kitchen. This guy has a working space of 1,.5 square meters! Respect

    A comfortable Hotel and Nice

This hotel's location is really strategic and in one of the city square. For you who want to watch Andre Rieu's concert in Vritjhof, it just take 5 minutes walk from the hotel to go there. The room is really wide and comfortable, complete with the water heater and it's soundproof. The staffs are kind and helpful and they can give informations about Maastricth. There are a lot of choices for the meals and drinks that are provided with a wide and jolly restaurant. This hotel is very suitable for either family or business.

Great location, good for partying not for sleeping

The location of Le Virage was PERFECT for walking around the city. It's ideally located right by the river and on a pedestrian street right off a main square. From here you can pretty much launch on foot in any direction and have plenty to do and see. The room itself was very clean and spacious. However, those are the only two things that I liked about staying at Le Virage. Your experience at this hotel will vary depending on WHY you are traveling. For example, if you are traveling in the winter months, some of the issues I experienced will not be issues for you. However, if traveling during the warmer months, this might be of interest to you. First -- the only way to enter this hotel is through a cafe on the main floor. When we arrived, there was no one there. Let me rephrase that, there were people in the kitchen, but they ignored the fact that we were standing by the bar/check-in counter waiting for help. From the cafe, there was an adjoining door to the stairwell that led to the rooms. During our stay, there was a stack of towels that remained in front of this door the entire time so that we had to climb over the towels every time we wanted to get in/out. While there was another door that lead directly from the outside into the stairwell, since the cafe was also a restaurant for dinner, there were tables with people eating right in front of the door so you could never actually use it. Second -- the rooms were not air conditioned, which is no surprise, but they didn't even put a fan in your room (I believe there are only four rooms in this hotel. They could probably afford to offer each accommodation a fan!) Third -- in order to not overheat in this room, you need to keep the windows open to get some air. However, since this hotel is so centrally located, there are at least 10 different restaurants/bars on the street below you. Which means there was a LOT of noise/activity well into the night (up until 3am!) which made getting any sleep very difficult! Fourth -- the bathroom, while spacious, was dangerous! The walls to the tub/shower are very high, and the floor of the tub itself was extremely slippery. There was no traction or matt placed on the shower floor and no handles for getting in and out of the tub. I had to hold on to the apparatus made for holding the shower head into place, which was flimsy at best. Granted, I'm a relatively young, sure-footed person, but ANYONE could slip in this tub. Fifth -- parking. The website boast that there's parking available nearly for 6 Euros a day, but as soon as we drove across the river to the hotel and realized that we couldn't go any further since the hotel was on a pedestrian street, we were funneled into a parking garage that cost us 25 Euro per day. After our issues with trying to check in to the hotel and not being able to find any help, we had forgotten to ask if there was another option for parking and so paid 25 Euro instead of the advertised 6. I would recommend asking about parking beforehand if you stay here. Sixth -- despite advertising free wi-fi and putting a password in your room to access it, the signal was so weak, we physically could not connect to the internet at any point during out stay.

    Accomodation review not restaurant

The rooms are expensive, with no breakfast provided and the cafes in the square don't open early to buy any. But it's in a nice location, in the old town, and there are good places nearby for evening meals. I think they only have four rooms.

    Adequate Accommodations

As a family, we booked three rooms. Room 2, 3 & 4. When we arrived, Richard helped us carry I luggage up to the rooms. Very helpful. Met Tessa, as well, and she was very friendly. There are so many positives to this hotel. there are only four rooms altogether. And we had three of them. They were very clean, had a mini espresso machine with pods, small refrigerator, great location, good beds and pillows, great windows, spacious rooms, good heaters. Met Didier, The owner, and he was very friendly as well. Now, because of the terrible, on and off Internet, I have to rate it a 3. Very frustrating. In room 2 had terrible lighting. I felt like I was in a cave. Two lightbulbs were out in the seating area, and the two lights on either side of the bed, were very tiny and dim. Then, booking.com said all rooms had terraces, they did not. Rooms 2 and 3 had good mirrors but room for only had a small mirror above the sink. The $6.60 euro parking area was very inconvenient. Had to plug the meter every morning by 8 oclock. All in all, we really loved the space, Location and cleanliness.
