"Bohoma Isthuthi" (Muchas gracias) Espero regresar pronto :)

Most enjoyable trip and lifted my spirits in these grim covid days

I was part of a group of 15 who stayed at Leopard Trails Camp and we had a fantastic time. The ambience, the food and attention to details were unsurpassed. They organised a campfire one night and out door dinning by candlelight , morning coffee on the deck - lovelyThe game rangers and drivers who took us around were most skilled and the high light of the park rides was the leopard that chose to stretch and play around a mere 20 years from us. My mother who is 95 years old (I kid you not) was on the trip and enjoyed it very much and the staff were very helpful to her. it was a great experience. They took all the covid precautions - sanitising everything in sight and we felt very safe.

Best safari guide. Cosiest rooms in Yala.

I have been to Yala several times before. Leopard Trails was a game changer. Whilst most other places in Yala focus on the experience of the guest only during their stay, Leopard Trails were focused on the entire stay including the experience during the safari. From the check-in itself, our guide Dhanula took us through a brief history of the park, the animals that live here, the number of leopards etc and where we can go to see them. This really set the tone for the stay. from what I understood, the hotel works in a way where each set of guests is given a guide, who will be your direct contact point throughout the stay and as well as during safari's. Dhanula joined us for two safari's and honestly, he at times was more motivated to see a leopard than we were! He was truly passionate about wildlife, and the most knowledgeable guide I have met. He splat out a world of knowledge during the 6 hours in safari, from the sounds, scents, and clues of nearby animals, to the behaviour of creatures, and how they got here. I have never experienced this with any other guide. He had a genuine interest to enlighten us about wildlife, I learnt significantly more about wildlife than I had ever before. Highly recommend to request for Dhanula when booking. It a reflection of true passion. The suite was extremely cosy. I have no complaints. The interior design was very well done, and the extras menu is also very comprehensive. The food was great, and Dhanula was able to organise a bonfire with marshmallows. dinner was served under candlelight. Perfect stay. Overall, the entire experience felt very personalised as Dhanula was directly coordinating the entire stay from check-in, meals, extras, and the safaris. If you want to have a true Yala experience in comfort. This is the place.

Possibly one of the best overall wild experiences in the bush

#Leopard Trails #Yala, #Katagamuwa Entrance#/Kataragama-#Sithulpawwa - #Sri Lanka #SriLanka Travel Closest to Africa kinda rustic feeling - scenic campsite, great setting quieter/less traffic entrance into the premium Park of Sri Lanka Top Guiding by experienced/educated Rangers on call dedicated for the guests while on stay Travelled solo on a Sunday/Monday Serene & calm Was privileged to be upgraded to One of their 2 luxurious, spacious Pool Suites where you get to enjoy above average pampering The ultra-large & comfy suite-style Luxury tents that include A/C, Mini Bar etc. indoor & outdoor sitting, dining tables etc. It gave me that real David Atonborough like feel in a remote but tastefully designed African tented game lodge tucked away in the bush. The Plunge pool thats ensuite, is an awesome addition & a definite stress buster between your action packed Safaris. Its designed with utmost seclusion/privacy. A dip in the pool after an inviting outdoor shower overlooking the wild bush setting, is amazing an experience sipping your preferred flavor/blend. The setting of the camp is amazing with elevated walkways that help keep you above water level when the campground gets full of water between the tents, dining tent & the luxurious A/Cd lounge area for relaxation. The open deck which often is the most hung-around spot of the camp, was my favourite spot too to enjoy my sundowners. The caring/kind, genuinely hospitable Game Ranger, Krishan I was assigned to arranged a lovely bonfire next to the deck while we tucked in a comfy extra-large bean bag enjoying the sunsets against an untouched backdrop of shrub jungle, I want to re-visit definitely on a full moon night with the water levels high ideally to enjoy a classic tent which to me possibly is a marry between a Maldivian Water bungalow feel but in an Africa like bush landscape just to skip my evening game drive & chill/relax at the camp site outside my tent over the still waters, with the chill factor of a possibly Croc as an uninvited guest. The Food was above average Great spread & quantity for a foodie as me. Attention to detailed was great & nothing was as per their clock. Had late lunch & late dinner as I wished Not a complain by the obliging crew at camp. The sunrise safari I took was a very rewarding experience not only due to we spotting multiple Leopards & a tusker on eventful morning drive. After visiting Yala & other Parks in Sri Lanka or other Indian regular tiger parks, Asiatic Lions in Gir or Gujarat or even the higher altitude parks in the North & my travels to Africa since 2009, this Safari with Krishan was one where I learnt a lot personally. Krishan was well versed with the fauna & flora - wealth of knowledge & great leopard tracking skills indeed. The highlight of the Safari & even the stay perhaps was the special breakfast arrangements made for me to surprise me. Picnic breakfast laid out on the banks of the Menik river in a quiet spot was definitely memorable for years to come & I will ask for it I guess next time as I am now spoilt.
