This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, in my life.

I am not one to normally write reviews as I tend to live and let live a little, and don't get my knickers in a twist about trivial things. However on this occasion I feel obliged to make several aspects of my stay public. I have been in China and Hong Kong for three weeks now and stayed in over 8 different hotels here. I decided to give what I though was a good and honest 4 star Chinese hotel a shot. Working on the basis China is supposed to be cheap and are the Westerners just ripped off by big brands. During my trip I have stayed in Sheraton, Hyatt, Haiyatt, Holiday Inn, Harbour Plaza, Grand Harbour... I have certain standards when on my own, on business for such a long time. The pictures of rooms and facilities looked good and the hotel isn't so old... I arrive and check in takes 20 mins... They can't find my booking. But anyhow live and let live etc. I have booked the second from best room in hotel. Business deluxe. State of room: 1. Medium sizes white fridge in middle of room, not plugged in. Other fridge in cupboard. Pubic hair in door handles. What looks like sweet and sour sauce inside of fridge all over shelf. 2. Carpet ragged and bits ripped. 3. Bits of rubbish on floor, everywhere, suggesting never vacuumed. 4. Used tissue on top of fridge. 5. Greece smears all over glass desk. 6. TV and free view box just dumped on table plugs hanging freely on top. Anyway I wasn't over the moon. I called reception and asked manager to visit me in room. I show they around and explain that I wasn't happy. Then I moved to the bed, which was really hard. I decided to whip the covers back to check for anything equally unclean. To my horror... 7. Big dirty stain, (and I apologise in advance) from the sort of activity that people do in beds. With multiple hairs. I was disgusted and demanded to be changed instantly. I move to best room in hotel, fully suite, which in my opinion is still rubbish. They had to send engineer out without me asking to fix the air con. Long story... Not that short. I go for breakfast the next day. There is none. They can't explain why. I decide to check out. Upon check out the insist that I pay the extra 150 Y for the better room. I explain that this is preposterous considering the service. They call the manager and I speak with him. He says there is no breakfast today, even though I paid extra for it. He offers 20 Y refund. Which is £2.00 and an insult to make out that any hotel would ever charge so little for breakfast. We argue for a while and I decided to just pay making my life much easier and it isn't so much extra money but the principle which is so frustrating. I explained to them that I would be writing this review and the receptionist just laughed. I don't think she understood properly. Please just don't stay here. If you do and are satisfied with you room and stay I will eat my hat. There are so many other bad things I could say about the hotel, but frankly I can't be bothered. They have wasted enough of my time. I will also be complaining to Agoda as it is unacceptable to display pictures of the rooms from when the hotel was first built. Yes they are the same but have been so, so heavily used. Any questions please fire away... olliechapman_2@hotmail.co.uk

    Excellent hotel.

Nice hotel to stay in as the rooms are big. Wifi is good. Staff are friendly and are able to converse in English. Not much to walk around but there are enough shops in front and by the sides to satisfy one's basic needs. To travel to Beijing Pedestrian Mall, one would have to take a cab. The cab ride is about 30 RMB. Most drivers there do on their meters so not much to worry about.

    Newbie staffs

Old hotel, staff didn't have a clue how to serve guest. Worn down aircon. Would pick another hotel if it weren't for guangzhou fair. Horrible breakfast. Rate is high during guangzhou fair. Definitely not coming back.
