Lovely place but staff and cleanliness let it down.

Although I would recommend the place as its beautiful. The cleanliness is very poor and some of the staff are just rude. My fiance was holding our 3 month child and was shood out of the way by someone serving breakfast. Not an excuse me or a good morning. The tables we sat at where not clean, stains from previous glasses and on two occasions no one lifted old glasses and used plates from all of the outside tables for over an hour. The room seemed clean but for 4 star accommodation there was a lot of damage to sink area, and glass broken on front window. Other than that the place is beautiful, very tranquil and girls in spa where very polite. Not sure I'd go again as the cleanleness and some of the staff where very poor. Overall the staff and the hygiene let the place down, but again they seemed understaffed so this is probably why. On checking in we heard another customer ask to be moved as his chalet had cigerette butt's in it and had not been cleaned, this was not the start we had wanted to hear so my feedback would be to get more staff, clean the place properly and be kinder to customers, courtesy and politeness goes a long way.

    Must not heard of covid

We stayed before and it was brilliant but this time, only a few staff members were wearing masks. Tables were dirty in the bar and restaurants and staff werent changing things left over from the tables. We sat outside for about 2 hours just having drinks and the tables around us werent cleaned once, some even had the same glasses sitting the next day. The resort wasnt busy and there were enough staff on. Not much information was given about lunch and dining. Staff were just walking past us and not acknowledging us while we waited to get seated for breakfast. One staff member, an older man shoo'd me out of the way while i was standing holding my baby instead of just saying excuse me. He literally waved his hands in frustration at me as if i was purposely blocking him. Then at lunch we went to the bar for some food and that table we were given was sticky and food all over it, empty crisp packets lying on the floor and crisps on the sofa. We wiped down the table ourselves with baby wipes and the dirt was ridiculous. We left a wipe (clean one) under the sofa to see if they would notice it and 2 days later it was still there when we were leaving. One day i ordered the fish and chips and the fish looked like it was bought from Iceland, it was soggy and burnt at the same time. God knows how. Its just like they never knew that there was a pandemic going on. I never once saw them clean a table or even wipe the bar down. In the restaurant they didnt clear the table completely after residents left. They kept all the same cutlery and glasses on the table if they didnt seem to be used. But for the residents that we saw sitting there, they still touched the glasses to move them out of the way or touched the cutlery sets to take out the ones they were using and touched the napkins they were wrapped in. One couple used both knives and forks but left the spoon and the waiter came along after and just stuck another fork and knife in the same napkin along with the same spoon still in it. There is no sense at all. They dont wipe down the chairs or anything. We just had a main then left because we didnt know what was touched. We kept using our own wipes and sanitiser. The floors in the bathroom were soaked too, i had to hold onto the walls while i walked with the baby in my arms to the baby changing room because the floors were that slippy. The only way we would ever return is when the pandemic has settled or finished and we would be getting a self catering cabin so we can cook ourselves and we would still bring our own dettol wipes for if we ever went to the bar. If it was more busy i would understand but they really werent busy at all plus it only takes 10 seconds to quickly wipe down a table/chair and just 2 seconds to say hello or smile. Not all staff were as rude as the man that shoo'd me as the waitresses in the restaurant and for breakfast were very chatty and welcoming.

    Romantic getaway - disappointing!

Where do I start. My wife and I went to Lusty Beg to celebrate our 25th anniversary; we stayed in Cabin 2 which is a Superior Lakeside Cabin. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The outside of the cabin and decking needed a lick of paint but you could live with that, the door to the cabin wouldnt open or close unless you gave it a good shove. The interior was a disappointment; the furniture needs an upgrade and a lick of paint wouldnt go amiss. The cleanliness of the room, windows and window blinds, left a lot to be desired and not what you would expect for a room at £170 per night, which doesnt include breakfast (breakfast is another story..) and for that price you would expect hotel standard accommodation like you would from well-known hotels in Belfast! We always intended to disinfect the room ourselves and by the standard of cleanliness of the cabin, this is a good idea. The room has a small kitchen area, microwave, wash basin; it had crockery and wine glasses, however for coffee and tea we had 1 paper cup each for the two days? As we were only staying two days, we didnt and werent informed that anyone would be in our cabin, so this was a bit of a shock to us and we had to disinfect the cabin again. In the restaurant and bar it was though there was no COVID-19; people werent wearing masks, although it does state at the door that masks must be worn at all times other than when you are sat at your table. People didnt care and it wasnt enforced by the staff.; we were lucky as we sat away from the main group of people, but still it was wrong what we saw. The staff were excellent, however the two-senior staff members, looked like management, didnt wear their masks at all whilst we were there? Although the food in the restaurant was good and price reasonable; the person who served us got our orders wrong both nights probably because they didnt have a notepad!! Breakfast the next morning was poor; food warm/cold, coffee cold and generally not a pleasant experience at all; hence we didnt go to breakfast on our last morning. Again, COVID-19, social distancing and wearing face masks was non-existent; about 50% of patrons didnt wear masks in restaurant/bar although the signs stated you must and wasnt enforced by staff. There was a Wedding party of 50+; no social distancing, none of the party wore masks when entering the bar areas etc and basically a free for all. This was supposed to be a special two day break for our 25th wedding anniversary which was ruined by the lack of adherence to COVID 19 precautions, poor accommodation, service, food and above all, poor value for money. We shall not be returning.

    BETTER THAN PORTUGAL!

We decided to book Lusty Beg after our Portugal trip was cancelled and we're so glad we did! We arrived here last week and stayed in the self catering Lodge (No.40) with friends for my husband's birthday. The lodge itself was fantastic! We had our very own log fire and you are provided fuel to light it. Super cosy! There's a large dining table for 6 and plenty of room on the sofas. The beds were unreal and we even had a top balcony overlooking stunning views of the lough. We dined in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was fantastic! I felt extremely safe with all staff wearing masks and diners were well spaced out. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the chef even made us a cheesy chip with gravy!!! :) The Guinness was great and the craic was mighty! We cannot wait to return here and are hoping to book again very soon! I'd just like to give a special thanks to the girl who was working in the restaurant and was so helpful and lovely to myself and friends. Its uncertain and worrying times at the minute for hospitality, so for staff to go out of their way to make sure you're happy is amazing! Thank you so much and I wish all the staff at Lusty Beg the best for the next few weeks ahead xx

    Great Boxing Day Getaway!

Our first time at Lusty Beg and certainly won't be our last! The restaurant had a reduced menu but the available food was good and the drinks flowed as you'd expect on Boxing day! We stayed in Cabin 4 which was perfect for us. It was warm, comfortable and had all the facilities you'd need for a two day break. The staff were excellent and always on call for anything we needed. Thank you for our thai takeaway food on our last night!
