  We were in this hotel last week..we went phuket without any booking..we just walk in rattana hotel and got room 500 baht a night..they said if we want breakfast we have to pay another 150 baht :) It was really cheap hotel good value.friendly staff and nice rooms. Highly recommend.

  Not a great atmosphere!

  We stayed at Rattana Beach Hotel for one night as a stop over between Krabi and Karon, and to see this side of the island. When we checked in the receptionist was not very welcoming at all - We are not used to this, having visited Thailand numerous times, the Thai people are usually very friendly and smiley. Our room was advertised as a sea view - in the pictures of this room were outside cushions on the built in seating area within the balcony and a nice table and chairs. What we actually got was the built in seating area with no cushions and old looking plastic table and chairs. You can see the sea but you have a VERY busy main road in the way of your view, its very loud so If you are booking this for a tranquil setting then that's definitely not what it is - anyhow, we were not spending our time in the room so we were not too fussed. Our ceiling leaked in the bathroom and resulted in us being moved to the room across the hall - this room had not been cleaned and we watched as the women cleaned the shower with one of the towels and leave in our room (this they later tried to charge us for the dirty towel!) We just got on with it as we were checking out the next day but I would never stay again - its not a holiday hotel at all , its perfect for you if you are a group travelling but very much not a holiday experience. People say this is cheap but I have paid a lot cheaper in Thailand for a thousand times better quality , cleanliness and atmosphere. Not for me

  A nice Place to stay in part of karon

  Nice hotel & nice location and a very affordable one..you will be fully entertained by the live music at night time in their papa restaurant located just infront of the hotel........... Highly recommended this place to all travellers......

  A total scam

  We have been traveling for 5 months and this hotel experience was by far the very worst. We booked originally 3 nights and got confirmation and paid upfront. Then we decided to arrive 2 days early so we made a second booking for the 2 days prior. When we showed up there were at least a dozen people sitting in the reception area because the hotel had NO ROOMS even though we had a confirmed reservation. They tried to get us to stay at their high-end hotel at a beach 7 km north (not a good beach for families with children) and we refused so we had to find another place to stay BUT we were told our original reservations 2 days later were solid and confirmed, and of course, had been paid. Well, when we arrived 2 days later we were AGAIN told they didn't have room -- they could only accommodate us for 1 room the first night. When I complained to our booking agent, the manager baldfaced lied to the agent and said the problem was there was an emergency because of a hot water problem. This was a total lie, the hotel was overbooked once again. The reception staff was beleaguered but also very very hostile and kept saying it was the manager's fault, not theirs and they couldn't help us and refused to take any responsibility. We spent 4 HOURS TOTAL ON 2 SEPARATE DAYS trying to find a solution for the problem of where to stay and we asked for water -- the reception has no air conditioning and we were standing by the desk the whole time -- the staff was very stingy. The solution was the hotel added 2 single beds to our room for one night and then gave us the room we had confirmed and paid for the following 2 nights. I had to argue for everything, including having the 1 room fee returned to us and getting free breakfast for our troubles (breakfast was not worth it, even free. the food was cold, not well cooked, and very stingy, like everything else in the hotel. Building is old, pool is old with broken deck chairs and lounges. Rooms are old with old and broken furniture. Would not recommend to anyone but the most desperate.
