  Magnífica experiencia.

  Lo tiene todo, parking, casa amplia, piscina, jardín, bar, vistas, aire acondicionado en las dos zonas, una opción perfecta para recorrer todo el lago de Como a un precio muy ajustado, algo mejorable la señal de wifi pero que lo compensa sobradamente la amabilidad de las dos chicas de recepción, destacando a Julia, con quien más traté y que me ayudó en todo, personas con alto nivel de preparación e idiomas, supermercado cerca utilizando un pequeño y precioso atajo que me aconsejaron en recepción.

  Great views

  Away from the tourist area, beautiful views, excellent duplex apartment. Lovely pool. The nights were so hot so shame the air conditioning wasn't on as we had to leave all the doors open all night. We were told they would be switched on after 1st June although this didn't happen Restaurant for breakfast and dinner was also shut, however some excellent restaurants in the town.

  Wonderful!

  We stayed at Oasi del Viandante for 5 nights as an add-on on the way home from our holiday in Austria. We are so glad we did! The apartments are fairly basic but clean and comfortable with everything we needed for a short stay. The views from our apartment were incredible! The kitchen is very compact with just a small hob, fridge and sink but fine for our needs. The location is great: the apartments are perched at the top of Dervio, with a pretty walk down a rocky path to get to the village. I think it would be tricky with a pushchair or younger children but our 5 and 9 year old managed it no problem. From the village you can catch a train to Varenna and then the ferries to Bellagio and Menaggio which were stunning. You can also walk to the lake in Dervio, which takes about half an hour but was well worth it for the swimming, views and beach bars. The two lovely girls on reception couldn't have been more friendly or helpful and spoke excellent English. The swimming pool and restaurant are owned separately to the apartments. The pool wasn't too crowded in July and had amazing views across the lake. You have to wear swimming hats but this seems to be the norm in this part of Italy! The only negative of our stay was the onsite restaurant. Our drive from Austria had taken 11 hours due to appalling traffic and we were tired, hungry and thirsty. We were met by a sullen young waiter who clearly wanted to be somewhere else. He told us we should have booked, despite there being plenty of tables free. No one was allowed on the outside tables and it was hot and stuffy inside. We then sat and waited over half an hour to be served drinks. The food, when it finally came, was nice enough, but this meal cost more than all the others on our stay in Italy! It's a great shame that this was our first impression of Oasi del Viandante and of the local people as it did not reflect the level or service we received on the rest of our trip or at the rest of Oasi del Viandante.

  Would stay again

  We were a family of four - one grandma, me and husband, and twelve year old daughter. We booked this place because we wanted a place with a pool and enough space for us all to spread out. We arrived very late (after 11pm) following a late flight into Milan, we drove in a hire car from the airport and found the place without any problems. We were aware in advance that the reception only operates a few hours on a morning and few hours late afternoon and were told our key would be left taped to the reception door (!!) Thankfully, it was there when we arrived and after we eventually found our room (it was pitch black and the set of stairs that our room was at the end of was really well camouflaged) we were relieved. The main door to the room opens directly into the first floor bedroom which we thought was odd initially, but proved to be no trouble at all. The bedroom is separated from the downstairs living area by a venetian blind which offers some privacy when you're getting changed but doesn't block out any noise from the rest of the apartment. The bathroom (also on the first floor) was large and reasonably modern with a shower cubicle (good water pressure and easy to control the heat). Downstairs, there is a large living area with pleather sofa (I think this folds out to a sofa bed but wouldn't fancy sleeping on it), a table and chairs, another bedroom with double bed and a fold down bed from a wardrobe, and tiny kitchenette (and I mean tiny) We had a good stay and would stay again happily, but I do think there are better places for the money - we enjoyed the holiday so much we're already looking for next year and have found some places that do look better for less money. Pros: Dervio is a lovely village and this place is an easy stroll down to restaurants, shops and the lake. The apartment we were in had stunning views to the lake and floor to ceiling windows to a nice patio area. The apartment was spacious and clean. The pool was a good size, was never too busy and had a bar to get drinks and snacks (but also see cons list) The reception staff were wonderfully helpful and spoke fantastic English It was great to have a proper fridge and somewhere to make coffee in the room on a morning There is a launderette onsite to wash clothes Very good info pack in the room with places to go etc. Cons While the apartment was mostly clean and spacious, it definitely needs updating in places. The door jam of the bedroom was broken and splintered. A dead mosquito had been squashed into the wall before our arrival and watched us for our entire stay. The upstairs bed was a bit knackered - it was two singles pushed together and if you sat down at the bottom of one of them, you went through the slats. It also creaked all night if you so much as breathed. One of the plug sockets came free of the wall every time you unplugged whatever was plugged in. The shower doors took two hands to close/open and were only attached by the top runners. While the kitchenette is good to have, it was so tiny that there was no space between the hob and the sink so any food/drinks you were preparing had to be done on the draining board. There were no wardrobes upstairs (just a couple of drawers - three wardrobes downstairs?) and no mirrors downstairs (just one in the bedroom upstairs and one in the bathroom) Aircon is restricted to 6/7 hours a day. I have never experienced this in a hot country before - you had to remember it was only available between 3pm and 10pm and to set it before you left on a morning to cool the room down for the evening. After day three of eight, the pool went stagnant and was never fixed. It was literally a dark green sludgy colour and looked like a pond. Despite it being reported to reception nothing was done about it.

  Overall good, lacking a little

  Overall nice stay, only sofa beds though but the website does warn against this, what the website doesnt say is that the pool, bar and restaurant only open from July during peak season. The staff were very helpful and spoke good English which helped. The gardens were lacking attention which spoilt a little but overall good.
