  Million thanks to the staff in seaside hotel

  Staff members at the check-in reception are extremely helpful and kind. Got stuck on the island as all the ferry schedules on 21 May were cancelled due to bad weather. The lady at the reception helped me make phone calls to different hostels/hotels nearby for available accommodation. Without her help, Id probably have no place to stay under very bad weather situation that day! Cant be more thankful to the staff there! They are amazing!!!

  Great resort in Yakushima Island !

  We stayed 6 nights and is was not cheap place to stay but we had great time and great service! Breakfast is buffet style and there are so many choice and all foods are nice ! You can have local foods, Japanese style breakfast and western style. I strongly recommend this place for foreigners tourist because all staffs can speak English. In the hotel lots of facilities there, very nice hot spring public bath, good selection of souvenirs shop and also there is launderette which you can wash your clothes during your stay. Only one small problem is dinner in the restaurant. Dinner in the restaurant will served by only Kaiseki course and you need to book your table in advance which is not flexible. It means you have to go out for dinner if you dont have reservation and if you want to eat not Kaiseki course. This hotel is not cheap but it was worth it for the price and location is very convenient, supermarket is just 7 minutes walk from hotel.

  Choose 'Namioto' type room! Poor quality food!

  We spent 3 nights in Yakushima at the Seaside Hotel in April this year. We were originally planning to stay at the JR hotel, but there was no availability. ** ROOM TYPES DIFFER!! ** You may notice that the hotel has two different type rooms. The original type and the 'Namioto' type which costs 30-40% more. The difference is that the original type are MUCH older. The 'Namioto' type are recently built in a new wing (2018-2019). They are modern rooms, spacious, have a bath tub that faces the sea (check pictures) and have a large balcony that you can sit and watch the sea from. These rooms are MUCH better and worth the extra cost. Location - 4/5 The location is reasonable but it depends where you are coming from and what you want to do. We flew into Yakushima airport, so Miyanoura port is not the closest city/town (30 minute drive). This is not a big issue if you're coming from the Port - in which case the hotel is right next to it. We also ate in the hotel (as it was included) but if you're looking to eat elsewhere I think Anbo town may be a better location to stay at. Also the Arakawa trailhead (the trail for Jomon Sugi) is much closer to Anbo town. Rooms - 5/5 The new 'Namioto' type rooms are reasonable. They are modern, newly built, they have a bathtub that faces the sea and a balcony where you can take in the sea breeze. PICK THIS ROOM! It is more expensive by 30-40% but all I can say is the other rooms are not worth how much they are charging. I would posit that the only reason to stay here would be for this 'Namioto' type room! Service - 4/5 Reasonable service. Some staff can speak english. We were able to buy bus tickets for the Arakawa trail head without issue and organise bento boxes. Also dinner service was reasonable. Pretty stock standard service. Food - 2/5 Food was pretty shocking quality especially by Japanese standards. Unfortunately for the room we picked there wasn't an option to not include meals. The dinner was generally overcooked and ingredients seemed to be pretty old. This place served some of the worst meals we've had in Japan in 6 trips to Japan. The breakfast was better marginally and the quality of the dinner did seem to improve as the nights went on. Overall - 3.5/5 Bottom line is the new 'Namioto' type rooms are modern and comfortable. However the food was pretty bad and the location may not be the best (if you're coming via airport). We would have stayed at the JR hotel instead if there had been availability there at the time. If you stay here choose the Namioto type room (the older rooms look like they were built in the 70's), otherwise the JR hotel and Sankara seem to be better options depending on your budget.

  Comfortable Rooms with Amazing Views

  We stayed her for almost a week while visiting Yakushima. We stayed in a ryokan style room with a view looking out over the ocean. Our room plan included breakfast and dinner. Breakfast buffet had numerous choices for everyone, Asian and Western, and as vegetarians we had no trouble finding plenty to eat. Coffee machine offers coffee, latte, or espresso, as well as hot water for tea. Dinner varied every night, but included soup, tofu, mushrooms, wasabi, tempura vegetables, pork and chicken (for our non-vegetarian friend traveling with us) and desserts that were really good. Would highly recommend staying here. Staff is friendly and accommodating, and while English may be limited in some, it never gets in the way of their hospitality. There are onsen downstairs, as well as a coin laundry. Located about a five minute walk from the port. They also provide free airport shuttle service.

  Namioto rooms are great. good location

  dont be depressed by the Soviet style building as you approach .and when we wete there the derelict looking pool. The namioto rooms are wonderful with a fantastic view particularly from your bath. Had one truly excellent dinner but food quality did vary..third night not so good. ideally situated beside the port and near bus stops. Once you master the timetable the bus works well.
