Worst hotel i have ever been

Where to start i went there with my boyfriend my brother and his girlfriend.. Since we got to the hotel the receptionist told us there were no rooms left so they tried to send us to the sultan of side hotel instead . We immediately contact with our agency and the agencys guy spoke to the receptionist and told them we booked for that hotel so we didnt have to go in another hotel .. after a lot of discussions with the receptionist we agreed to stay at a family room in this hotel all thanx to ILYAS. The other guy at the reception i didnt learn his name , insulted us , gitsinlar he screamed istemiyoruz he continued.. but thanx to ILYAS we stayed there that night in family room and the other day we changed room and went in two different standart rooms as we had requested.. but the rooms where dirty the cleaning ladies didnt change the sheets and towels.. ants where everywhere in the rooms .. totally nightmare.. the food was the same everyday .. the fish wasnt fresh dont eat it .. wifi was slow you had to pay extra for speedy wifi ... terrible hotel definitely not a 5 star The only thing good was Ilyas and animation team Yes the animation team was definitely great especially Nadia Pinar Aykut and the little guy i didnt learn his name ... Thats all i got i definitely do not recommend this hotel!

    Subpar experience, had higher expectations

We went during Covid-19 restrictions so maybe our experience would have been better if during another time. However, that was on top of the other negatives that made us think we would not come back nor recommend this to our family and friends. First day - receptionists know 0 English. We arrived at 10 AM, got told room wouldn't be ready until noon. Ok, we wait and go again, this time they tell us to wait till 2 PM. Since boyfriend knows Turkish, overhead Hatice (receptionist) saying to a co-worker that it was no big deal for us to keep waiting. Not cool! It was my bf birthday that day, I specifically asked if they could do something, got told YES and they did nothing. I asked 3 times and then gave up. Very disappointed! Fast forward to the internet - free wifi is non existent. If you pay the "high-speed" it's actually 3 euros per day and still non existent. Money down the drain! Back to the food - abundant, has choices but not as many if you're staying for 7 days. Due to covid-19, they had placed servers on each station who were supposed to serve you everything from salads to fruits and dessert. Most of the time these people were not around so people were getting food by themselves. When they were around, they were talking to other staff members or they'll ignore you if someone talks to them in Turkish. Lastly, beach and pool towels are like 15 year old. The only pros are that the room is relatively new, nice floors, comfy bed, beach is clean and not crowded. But, after an experience like this would one want to come back to such hotel? We are certainly not going to.

Good time apart from an incident from a rude barman.

Overall the hotel great, there was a lot of outdoor space and great waterslides. The food was okay but not so great. The room service was also good with good cleaners. On the other hand, there was an incident with one of the barmen near the beach, I was first in the line waiting for a drink and then he skipped me and started to serve the men that came after me, then, one of the men asked why he didnt serve me and the barmen replied, she can wait, making a joke out of me. When I told him I would complain, he began to laugh, then I asked his for his badge name and he got nervous.

    Honest English Review....

We booked Sultan of Dreams last minute due to the U.K travel restrictions and Turkey at the time was the next available destination. Neither of us had travelled to Turkey before so had no expectations. Sultan of Dreams was recommended by the budget travel company we booked with however we took the tripadvisor and social media reviews with a pinch of salt and i have to say i am so glad we did. Firstly very few English come this far out at the time we travelled we were infact the only English and i have to say that made you notice how rude the other international travellers are therefore i deem some of their harsh reviews from their rudeness. Sultan of Dreams is deemed a 5 star hotel from the hotel, decor, services and additional activites etc not only that but how friendly all the staff are. Some areas may require a lick of paint but that doesn't mean it is not 5 star. The hotel is over an hour from the airport, is found in Kizilot with a private beach front location. The hotel has its main building with lobby, restaurant, some shops and a bar with 6 floors of rooms. Walking through to the back of the building you then see an outside area for eating. A large building to the left with the gym, spa, an indoor pool, hair salon, doctors and another 6 floors of rooms. Further behind this is a large pool, a smaller kids pool and the a water slide pool. To the back of the grounds on the left you can find a shop, with snacks and souveniers, a fur and leather shop with swimwear. On the right across the way is the pool snack bar and eating area and the outside stage for evening entertainment. Also there is a vitamin bar (non alcoholic ice fruit smoothies) and a kids club. Walking further towards the beach is a beach bar and dining area where burgers and chips are available (tastier than Burger King) toilets and then the private beach. All in all a vast amount of hotel grounds not to mention the areas of immaculate gardens and flower beds. Kizilot has no nightlife or cafes so you are basically in the hotel however there is a vast amount of clothes shops to purchase items at various prices. Although the hotel shops near the restaurant are excellent prices and have a friendly service. Internet is poor here but we found that to be a positive as no socia media/email interuptions for the whole 2 weeks. We arrived at 2.30 am and found the receptionist did not speak very good English, not a problem for us as we do not speak Turkish therefore we all got through check in. Paperwork is provided for the benefit of Covid and luggage is disinfected and handwash provided. We were informed that we had been given our room 1303 for the rest of the night and would be required to return in the morning to change rooms. A little hassle some might say but we were too tired. Room 1303 was in the second building and was a large family room. With 2 double bedrooms and 2 balconies. The room was clean and disinfected very well. We returned to the reception the following morning and the hotel manager greeted us very friendly and offered us the sea view room 1414 (we had paid for a sea view) he was very apologetic and let us view the room first. It was in the main building and was slightly smaller which suited us as a couple however it was still big enough with a double bed, a single bed, with two sofas, and dressing table. The decor in both rooms was beautiful and very modern yet chic. There is a fridge which they provide water (still and sparkling) and cartons of juice. As well as this is a kettle with fruit teas. Soaps and shampoo etc are provided in the bathroom. The only issue we had with the room was that following a powercut mid way through our second week the air conditioning stopped working at night a few times.. but we still had air from the windows and the hotel sent maintenance to the room to fix the issue. The restaurant (Italian restaurant was closed during our visit) is on the lower floor. Obviously covid has meant the hotel has adapted the seating and the serving of food and drinks to abide by covid guidelines which impressed me. I am a U.K nurse working with covid patients so the hotel focus on covid has made my stay very pleasant yet safe. Your temperature is checked on arrival to dinner, all hotel staff wear surgical masks, very little guests use masks or abide by the social distance which is disheartening and shows ignorance to the hard work of the hotel and ignorance to the pandemic itself. However we protected ourself. The chairs and tables are distanced to 1.5 meters, for the food they use a barrier to protect their staff and guests and again this is ignored by the majority. The hotel has adopted food servers to dish up your food... again ignorant people barge in to gaps that have social distance for a reason, give abuse to the food servers for having to wait etc. For example i witnessed a dutch man be that impatient waiting for vegetables to be served as he attempted to grab the spoon under the protective glass is bare arm wiped across the vegetables! Lets be honest covid has and will forever change the world and the way we live however the management and staff have done an excellent job. What makes it slow is again your (tourists) lack of compassion to social distancing and the requirement not to touch the food or cutlery. Food in the restaurant is lovely, salads, roast chicken, soups, international dishes, we were never hungry and i fully recommend the chefs stuffed chicken.. delicious! I have to mention the cakes... but no words can do justice to describe the colours and the flavours... give them a go. The pool bar has food available at lunch time as well as the restaurant as well, again its same principal as the main restaurant however people would rather choose to stick their hands in bowls or on serving knives and sit in their budgie smugglers or with flab out in places that even us English do not wish to see! here was not a favourite place for me to eat. (Not the hotel fault) The burger bar is also available on the beach and is excellent. I need to give a mention to Adam and the team at Vitamin bar the ice smoothie cocktails (non alcoholic) are amazing and very refeshing at excellent prices.. we lived on these. Adam has a little sit doen area to enjoy the drinks. There are plenty of bars and seats to eat within the hotel. I need to mention here the chickens... i may be used to animals but at the start of my stay i did find it hard to accept the chickens that walking and feed in the grounds. However by the first few days you see these are beloved pets and well looked after. They keep you company at lunch in the pool bar. The beach is not a favourite of mine as again not the hotels fault but international guests are dirty pigs and should consider a U.K Pointins for their next holiday because Sultan of Dreams is far to Luxurious for you. Every morning the life guards (all friendly) picked up rubbish, food and fag ends from the pool areas and the beach! Shameful. We choose the immaculate lawns near the beach with the Bali beds as it was peaceful and spacious away from others. Just infront of these is 4 wooden shaded huts with bed that can be hired for the day with food and drink brought to you. So beautiful. I have to give a special mention to the end of this review to a few hotel members who made our stay enjoyable. Bulent the waiter in the restaurant. (Hope i spelt it right) Very friendly and always looks after his guests, he is always welcoming and gives a lovely smile. He knows your drinks order and always keeps your glass full. Such a lovely hard working man. The 2 gardeners who worked tiredlessly in the heat to keep the gardens immaculate and always said hello to us. The burger lad... who worked most days our first week (w.b 26th september) and always said hello and smiled. To the little brown haired lady who cleans the pool bar dining area and toilets at the back of the stage and always waved and said hello. To Adam for all the excellent football banter.. your English is perfect! To the man in the beach pool bar who spoke no English but always smiled and said hello in Turkish to us... To the male housekeeper who was friendly and kept us in supply of water. The hotel staff work continously with a smile on their face and a friendly manner and it is them that have made us have a special holiday and not want to go home. This hotel has been the best holiday for us... and we vow to return to Turkey again. You will not be disappointed staying at the Sultan of Dreams Hotel and Spa.

    Honest English review

We stayed at Sultan of dreams for 2 weeks in October 2020 all inclusive. We arrived at about 8:30pm there was still some food in the restaurant to have something to eat. Then we were escorted to our rooms and shown around the room, how to work the air con etc... The food- Honestly the food is okay it depends on how fussy you are I guess, Ill admit Im a fussy eater and I found something to eat each mealtime. In the evenings you could get pasta cooked with fresh vegetables and choose a sauce to go with it which was yummy! They had a burger bar on the beach which was alright a nice snack to have if you was peckish. The bars serve your standard drinks, alcohol, fizzy and hot drinks. The Accommodation- The room was standard nothing out of the ordinary the pictures on the website are a true representation to what the rooms are like. We had a sea view room, we were in the second block which was really noisy at night because of the entertainment they had the music so loud which finished about 12:30 so its not the end of the world but it does get on your nerves after a while. Everything else- This was my first trip to Turkey its clear this hotel mainly caters to German and Russian families and not really the English. The majority of the guests who werent English were so rude pushing in line when queuing for food etc and they are so rude to the staff which is a shame to see. The staff were really good especially at dinner after a few days when they knew your drink orders and things they would keep bringing drinks to your table making sure your glass wasnt empty which was nice. We went into Side for one day via a taxi and well its a lovely place to walk around and maybe have dinner and look at the ruins but you can do it in a couple of hours. We went swimming in the sea, the water is so salty make sure youve got goggles! All and all wed go back but only for a week next time.
