Hotel was unfinished and still being refurbished in May 2016

I think this WILL BE a great hotel. It is in a great location, with lovely views from the sea view rooms and great staff, but when we arrived, we had no sea view, the food was barely warm, and the builders were still working everywhere. Downside is that the pool is at the front of hotel and close to the road, but a definite plus is you can walk along beach to the pretty harbour and walk across the foot bridge to the picturesque Cameo Island where weddings are held. Have a cocktail in the bar at the top of this island looking out over the Ionain Sea, its fabulous. You can hire a luxury boat or car and see more of this beautiful island from just down the road to the hotel and there are some wonderful restaurants, serving fabulous greek food, try the fried courgettes, very morish. We were all inclusive at the hotel, but a bottle or Prosecco is about 7 euros and can be kept cool in the very efficient fridge in your room. As i said, we were disappointed the hotel was no where near being finished, but I am sure it will be wonderful when it is. Wifi was practically non existant in the hotel, but was somewhat a little better in the local restaurants.

AKA Zante Blue Beach Hotel AVOID AT ALL COSTS

It's very easy to jump on here after a bad experience so please be aware that we were moved eventually to another hotel which was a very different set up and the review for that hotel is polar opposite of this one. We chose this hotel because it was promoted as a 'deluxe holiday' but I can assure you that there are fundamental problems with this hotel that go beyond the cosmetic. There was a Carry On movie set in Spain where Sid James and co arrive at a hotel nothing like its promotional literature. Well this was very similar. Everything that could be wrong was. If you look on the hotel website the azure sea in the background and the sleek surroundings look impressive but they are not what they seem. Our garden view room looked out onto a wall but if you looked to the left (not to the right because you would look into someone else's room) there was an unkempt back yard. The sink was in the room beside the bed and the glass door to the shower room provided little privacy. Whilst it was still being built when we were there (literally) I accept that there will be now no longer be wires hanging from the ceiling nor missing rails for the stairs but the design of some of the rooms was bizarre. We were able to swap with a couple because they could only manage two nights before they booked somewhere else. Their room (208 I think) was a family room but it was an airless, windowless double bed room with a dark annex to a single room which had direct access to a shared patio area. This would not be safe for children as they could easily climb onto the roof of the perplex covered reception area via air conditioning units (rusty and with holes). At the time of our stay there was no mandatory fire safety signs on doors and the fire hose cupboards were used for storing old literature. There were no fire alarm systems in place. The hotel has very limited communal areas so if everyone decides to use the one pool area they will feel cramped. There is no beach to escape to. The restaurant area felt like a canteen but this and the outside pool bar (which was eventually finished when we were there) are the only main areas for groups to sit after meals. Whilst it could be accepted that this was a work in progress I did have a fundamental issue with the way customers were treated. For instance the all inclusive hotel did not allow bottles of water (the workmen were), nor freshly ground coffee (the workmen had unlimited frappes), ice cream was not directly accessible so you had to ask if you could have a scoop. The reception staff were good at saying 'no', 'it's not ready' and they 'don't know' but rarely made effort so when we asked for an extra blanket it never materialised etc. The location of the hotel is also concerning as it is on a road (not particularly busy when we were there) but children would need constant supervision. There is very little in the vicinity so would urge car hire to explore and access nice beaches. We were far from vexatious complainents as we just wanted a holiday but we did feel very misled as this is most definitely not 4 stars and would think hard to call it 3 stars. I am sure there will be improvements but there is no getting away from the fact there are no lifts for the three floors, the facilities are so limited and the food far from 'deluxe'. The quality of the workmanship was poor in many circumstances so can anticipate that the untiled shower rooms will very quickly show signs of damp (there are no extractor fans), the toilet seats are flimsy and the shelving (there are no cupboards) is very substandard IKEA type stuff. This does sound dreadful but I am sure people going with the right type of stiff upper lip will have fun despite it's obviously flaws though don't rely on the 'entertainment' as we had one night of greek dancing. The rest of the time its about entertaining yourselves which wasn't a deal breaker for us. I am sure the owners will quietly avoid these reviews as they totally rebrand as a different hotel but I shall ensure this review follows them because I think we can all allow for genuine mistakes and less than perfect circumstances what I can't forgive is portraying this hotel as something it is most definitely not. Be warned.

    Faulty Towers

The day before we were due to travel Broadway Travel wanted to change us to another hotel. This we declined as we were travelling with friends who were not offered the change of hotel. Alarm bells should have rung then. Hotel is by no means a 4 Star - barely a 2 Star. Loads of unfinished work - workmen still doing jobs. No lift and we were on the second floor up very dangerous spiral type stairs - at some points with no handrails. Food mediocre, staff very helpful and friendly, one felt sorry for them as they were at the receiving end of unhappy clients. Local taverna referred to the hotel as Faulty towers when they saw our bright orange bracelets. All in all we did have a good holiday as with friends but would not stay at this hotel again. One poor lady had gone through Thomas Cook and had paid nearly 3 times what we had paid. She had been told hotel was 4/5 star - Adult only (which it is not!) entertainment every night - is load music blasting out from pool bar entertainment ?????. Lovely location of hotel but not enough to want to repeat the experience. Very poor WIFI. No storage facilities in room just some poor shelving. No mirror over dressing table. Our friends had no hair drier in their room and a constant horrible smell in the bathroom area. Bathroom poorly fitted out - floor got flooded every time one had a shower.

Not finished and Not 4 Star

This is not a 4* hotel by any stretch of the imagination. The refurb is not finished. Some rooms are like cells with the sink in the bedroom and shared balcony with no proper patio furniture. We refused first room and got another with a ensuite. It had a spare bed in the room with the hairdryer at the head end of the spare bed (for a child) no mirrors only one in the ensuite. There was a hand held shower, no tiles on the wall and no toiletries only a soap machine on the wall. the TV didn't work and no list of channels anyway. No pictures on the wall curtain didn't cover the door and duvet didn't cover the bed. There were no tea making facilities in room or stool in front of so called dressing table. No house phone to contact reception or housekeeping. Not one bottle of complementary water. There was a empty fridge - what for! We were fully inclusive and the restaurant was a like a school cafeteria the same food every single day hardly an choice. Only a few slices of white bread no yoghurts fresh fruit consisted of water melon, sliced orange and apple. Scrambled egg was grey and all food just left over water hot plates for the duration of the meal. No soup and lunch and evening were virtually the same menu. No choice of desert but different every day. Al la carte restaurant was across the road and a public restaurant. Al la carte menu for guests was limited. the last 2 days of our holiday we had to queue for a table because it was overrun with people from the Turtle Inn directly behind the hotel. Service was poor with plates not being cleared between courses. There was only one bar - pool bar. Only 4 cocktails available to All Inclusive guests served in a plastic glass with no adornments. not enough tables and chairs to accommodate guests. Pool was deep both ends and not suitable for kids. They advertise kids club but didn't see any evidence of this. We did not have children. Think the hotel should be adults only anyway as there are no lifts and 3 floors. it rained when we were and the place was littered with buckets to catch the rain. There were bare wires everywhere where lights were waiting to be put up. The Zante Blue Beach hotel should be a 2* then people would know what to expect.

    Love the cocktails

This restaurant offers a great cocktail menu. The food is great, very spicy, make sure you will ask for a mild version if you are not a fan of spicy. The place looks amazing with all those lights and it has a great atmosphere. Stuff is friendly but very slow. Don't like that stuff can't keep the whole amount of tips they earn and even have to pay some percentage to the company. This is not how the employees should be treated!
