  Surprisingly different

  The Winning is just a bit different from the typical business style hotels. When you arrive (we had a car - free parking) the staff comes outside, makes a bow and escorts you inside. One day it rained and they came out with umbrellas. English is limited, but the staff is extremely polite and friendly.The room is relatively large and very clean, but the non-smoking room we booked did not exist. They odorize the rooms so the cigarette smoke was very noticable and as a non-smoker my first reaction was to leave. Fortunately the windows open and that saved the stay as the smell of smoke was very vague if the window was kept open. An eye for detail: the two towels were hung in such a way that the hotel name was portrayed. Breakfast was not buffet style,but one could chose between a Japanese and a Western option. Both were of excellent quality. Also here very polite behaviour. Bowing after the water was brought, then after the coffee, then after the meal. When the meal was finished a staff member called the elevator and waited till one departed. Sounds a bit overdone, but it fitted the hotel well and felt naturally. Location is downtown, but away from the tourist masses. Hakodate has become a tourist hotspot and the town risks losing its identity and become some kind of themepark. Leaving also meant that a staff member walked to the car and remained in the parking lot till one had driven off. I can recommend this hotel and will probably (smoke) when returning to Hakodate.

  Nice and affordable hotel

  Requires a tram ride from the train station. Otherwise, location is awesome as it's very close to the ropeway. Tram station is just a couple of steps from the hotel. Will require a 10mins walk to the pickup location if you are heading to the airport. Price wise, I guess it's reasonable. I paid about 70sgd a night.

  Amazing Hotel

  This hotel is very nice and affordable, very close to Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse. Staff are very polite and helpful. Food and services are great. I am very happy to stay at this hotel on Christmas night this year.

  Big Room

  winning hotel is one of the best hotel, we were three person and we had big room. clean room and we enjoyed the night in this hotel. staff were good very nice. breakfast was good, we enjoy the japanese breakfast with the great view.
