average only because spacious and convenient locationWe have stayed at this hotel apartment before but this time there were some issues. It has definitely gone downhill since we stayed there before, or maybe our particular apartment this time has had particularly heavy usage and no refurbishment. Everything just looks a bit tatty and grubby. One thing that always puts me off is the sight of curtains sagging because of missing hooks, or hooks have come out of the rail, and I think in all three rooms this was the case. The kitchen was strange - there was an electric stove in the corner, which seemed to be out of action. There was a gas stove shoved against one wall with the gas bottle next to it. Hanging next to the gas bottle were bare electric wires from the defunct electric cooker. I am assuming these were not live, but didn't want to try - and it did look like a safety hazard (small kids touching them?). Also the socket where the microwave and kettle should be plugged in, was practically hanging off the wall. I had to call maintenance because the kettle was not working, and when he brought a replacement, pointed this out, but nothing was done. The bath in the ensuite was unusable because there was a plumbing problem, in that when you turned on the bath taps, there was a leak from the taps and the water ran along the bath shelf and on to the floor. So all three of us ended up sharing the other bathroom. (this was mentioned to reception, but nothing done). Even more of an issue was that if you wanted a bath (which two of us prefer) there was only about 6 inches of hot water before it ran cold. Other issues were, no one came to service the apartment the first day, and I don't think anyone would have done the second day had I not asked. I ended up leaving the trash can outside the door. There were no tea or coffee sachets which one comes to expect these days. Also the bathroom minis were minimal - shampoo and soap. Kitchen utensils minimal but just about adequate. We could not turn the ac in the living room off. There is only a tv in the living room, not bedrooms. You have to pay for wifi, and connection is unreliable. I could go on about other minor issues but suffice to say no one should stay there who is overly fussy about decor, cleanliness and health and safety. On the plus side, the main bedroom was pleasant even though bedside lamps would have been welcome (you can't read in bed and have to get up to turn off the light). The apartment is very spacious and well located in the city centre, so you can walk to local grocery stores in a couple of minutes, and it is very easy to get a taxi. It is very convenient to be able to eat your own food at a dining table and so you can save money by not always having to eat in restaurants. It is probably the cheapest place to stay in Fujairah if there are more than two adults. There is a pool, though this time we did not use it, so can't comment on the state. It is such a pity that they don't smarten this hotel up, as it has great potential. I have rated it 'average' rather than 'poor' because of the size, location and price.

bad experiencesAwful surprise was waiting us in this apartment: dirty windows, no table lamps in bedroom. Air conditioning was keeping terrible noise in balcony, as did minarets outside. Pool area was poor, dust and no sun umbrellas. It seemed that there has been nobody in months...We drove to the beach: there wasnt any sunbeds, there were simply nothing, just empty dark sand beach. The real beach area is about 40 kilometers away. We spent one night there and will never come back. The poorest RCI destination that we have ever been.
