  "Atempause"

  Halfway on a long trip, I decided to stay at this hotel. Very convenient and quiet room (windows open at night), good restaurant, very nice wines and caring staff. Worthwile to pass by again!

  Very "German" traditional atmosphere

  The stay was ok in general. Positive experience: + Friendly personnel + Tasty breakfast + Cozy restaurant area, yard was all nicely decorated, i assume in summer it is even better, reasonable prices for food during the dinner, also traditional German food + Sauna area Hard to say anything about location, as we were for business and by car. But just opposite of the hotel there is a beautiful church. In general Dettelbach is very small city. But it would be also too cold to walk to some other restaurant. Negative experience: - not even free welcome water - no free internet - TV did not work - on first evening sauna was cold, because personnel forgot to switch it on

  A flying visit ...but a pleasant one!

  We stayed here for one night on a flying visit through the area. We were checked in quickly and efficiently by a lovely gentleman who spoke perfect English and was very helpful. We had booked a double non smoking room which when we got to it was 2 single beds pushed together - so tired we didn't care but not great if you were going for a romantic break. Imagine our surprise when they turned out to be water beds! What a hoot! Our room was on the small side with a view of the roof of the extension and the extractor fan in the bathroom was pretty noisy but on the whole, we were there to sleep and we didn't really care. We went out onto the garden terrace and ordered lunch and the waitress who didn't speak English was very good humoured about our terrible attempts at German and frenzied hand gestures. When it arrived the food was great. We had breakfast before leaving the following morning and again the (different) staff were really lovely, there was a good selection of food and of good quality. Dettelbach is a really pretty town and I'd have liked the opportunity to spend a little more time exploring....maybe next time.

  Disappointing

  My wife and I had, in previous years, stayed over in Dettelbach en-route to Austria. We liked the look of the Franziskaner. Sadly, we were disappointed by a raft of niggling issues that reflect, as several other reviewers have commented on, a lack of purpose and leadership. We arrived with outside air temp at 4c, room had all heating turned off (probably like that for days) - took hours for it to warm through. Asked, on arrival, if we could book for dinner, yes was the answer. Arrived for dinner, all tables in restaurant taken - we could eAt in the semi neon lit room adjacent... Out of date nibbles in room... The positives, and there were some, very helpful and smiley young staff members + we had an excellent and perfectly cooked Schwein Schnitzel, very tender with a well presented salad.. Overall for the 126 euro price tag, poor value for money. They could do a great deal better with some quality leadership...

  Good facilities.

  Typical German hotel with warm decoration and functional rooms. Nice dining area with nice veranda and open garden. Friendly and efficient service. Fair fees. Good parking facilities. Breakfast ok. Of course gorgeous bear, but restaurant quality and service quite disappointing.
