  LOVED it

  I stayed here for a whole week here and loved it! Our room mates booked 2 nights and they loved it so much they ended up staying for the whole week too! The beds are super clean always with fresh linen. Air con was modern and very good on those hotter than hot days! The hostel was very well decorated, smart and funky style and had a chilled vibe. It is also very local for everything being situated on the edge of the central square. The place was cleaned daily and well maintained. Hot showers (although no towels at the moment as previous backpackers sadly stole them). The hostel is also a tourist info centre which was very convienent for booking trips and one thing i loved was that they promote ethical animal related excursions. The best thing about the hostel for me was the owner Tue and her husband. They are the LOVELIEST couple and so kind, caring, helpful and always happy and smiling. Tue provides a laundry service at a small cost and our clothes were always super clean and smelling fresh when they came out. Tue really made our stay here. It was really like a home from home. Anytime we walked passed she was always offering us fruit and all sorts of thai cuisine that she happened to be cooking for herself. We became quite friendly with her and she was always such a pleasure to be around. Such a happy and friendly person. She works unbelievably hard maintaining the hostel and she is always busy but will always drop everything to help you if she could. She was previously a nurse and so helped my friend when she got a infected wound injury on her foot. She would also tell educate us about thai traditions and cultures and we learned alot from her. She was just the BEST! Highly reccomend staying here! Loved it! (Unfortunatly i forgot to take pics but you will see for yourself how cool the place is)

  Okay value for money

  We stayed at Cham Cha for 2 nights. Make sure you don't arrive before 9am because hostel is closed then and check in is at 12.30. We could stall our backpacks securely in the office after 9am though. There was almost never someone at the reception, so that was quite inconvenient if you needed something. There is a digital key system so you can go in and out and it is safe. The dorm and bathroom were not clean, hair everywhere and were never properly cleaned. Shower is good and has hot water. There is no toiletpaper so bring your own. A-C in the dorms worked perfectly and there are lockers for valuables (without lock; have to have your own). The dorm we were in was next to the busy street and quite noisy but earplugs will help. WiFi is good and available in all rooms. Staff was very friendly if we would see them. Overall average, but what can you expect for this price.

  Dirty and not central

  Now let me preface this review with, I know I have no right to complain seeing as my room was $3 a night - but here are some things I wish I knew beforehand: -its. so. dirty. every bathroom smelled like soggy moldy towels, and theres bugs everywhere. one of the nights a centipede with a bunch of little legs fell out of the shower curtain and I nearly packed my things up then and left immediately. -its quite far from the night markets and temples. everything is a 20-30 min walk -there is NEVER anyone at the reception desk. once you check in, youre on your own until check out. also, the hours of check in are so strange...its definitely not like any of the hostels im used to. no community feel and its like a ghost town. -the host was so rude to me during check out and i dont know why. she snapped at me with attitude and basically threw my deposit back at me, which is so confusing because i never even saw her during my whole stay so im unsure of what i couldve done wrong. i was never even there because it grossed me out. only went to sleep. oh well. it wasnt an enjoyable stay at all. but it was $3 so thats the only plus.

  Value for money

  I booked to stay here for 4 nights. I had a bed in a dorm room having window facing the big tree in front of hostel. The rooms was smelly but bathroom was very clean. Quiet location, not very central but near a park and close to Thape gate (a spot for street food for dinner. Wifi was not working on 4th floor. But as other review, you should not arrive early. I came there 9:00am after a sleepless night and nobody was there. Tried to call and send email and finally at noon one lady came to clean the house. And normally there is noone at reception, so if you need something, arrange it on your own. Overall, you can't require much with the money you paid.

  Cham Cha Stay :)))

  Great hostel, great price, good location. Lady running the hostel is Súper friendly and eager to help. Researching and booking activities can be done in the front of the hostel, where you can find a bunch of brochures, which is very convenient Will stay here again when I return to Chiang Mai in a week.
