  Lovely appartments with an amazing staff

  Esperia is a great little hotel with some of the greatest staff I've had the pleasure of meeting. The location is amazing and the rooms have a wonderful view. We arrived late at night, and the bartender stayed with us past closing time to help us order food and tell us where we could go in the morning to buy food, get to an atm and answering any questions we had. The rooms are cleaned daily by a lovely lady who always has a smile and a "Good morning" ready. We liked it so much we decided to extend our 1 week stay by 1 more week, and the manager was extremely helpful making it all work out. If we are coming back to Crete and Rethymnon we will definitely be staying at Esperia again. Thank you all so much for everything you do. Christopher & Tonje

  my room today

  I will write a full review when I get back home. stuff is kind and helpful. Rooms are very clean and the location great. u booked and prepaid 112 euro/day/room (3 rooms). not enough water flow in the shower. pour breakfast.

  Disapponted.

  This was our third visit to Esperia. The previous 2 visits had been lovely. Unfortunately this time was not so. Arrived early hours of the morning expecting 10 night with a sea view one bedroomed duplex apartment to be given keys for a basement studio below ground level. The manager Nick was not there and bar staff couldnt help. Had to wait for the manager to come back. He blamed TUI for the lack of rooms. Said they had cancelled them. He could only offer us a private apartment not in their complex but above a shop on the side street for 5 nights. Nothing to do with Esperia. Only had a cleaner once in the 5 nights there. Balcony just filth. No safe facility so nowhere to leave valuables. . He promised to move us for the remaining 5 nights of our holiday for the room we had booked. He did honour this promise. The shower did not work though. The riser had been broken a long time. We had to tie it up with ribbon to enable us to use. Nick the manager said he would look at this but nothing was sorted. Maintenance seems to be somewhat lacking. On speaking to the rep this problem with rooms not being available had happened at least 6 times in the last couple of weeks. Customers turning up and not getting the standard of room they had paid for. These rooms are also advertised on booking.com. Dont expect to get the room you have booked and paid for. Last time we will be visiting these apartments. Very let down. Avoid !!

  Dont Stay Here!

  We are x6 adults who travelled from Australia as a party of family and friends. We paid premium prices for 3 self catering rooms 1 year ago. We even emailed the hotel directly to ensure we would get the rooms we requested. Upon arrival (late at night) we got two of the rooms we requested. The third room for our young couple was tiny, noisy and situated on the main entrance next to a road. This should have been a pool view room. The air con was broken too. We were told that their room wouldnt become available until 4 days into our holiday. As a consequence our daughter had no sleep and became ill due to lack of sleep. The second room - broken door, broken shower, broken basin tap and TV didnt work. The manager Nick and his wife had a couldnt care less attitude. The TUI rep was a waste of time! This is classed as a 3* star. I would not rate this higher than 1*. On a plus side, the cleaner was fantastic and kept the rooms spotless.

  Beware of overbooked rooms

  Just back from 2wks here. On arrival friendly helpful owner showed us to our room. Had paid extra at time of booking for a sea view. Was placed in the dungeon below road level with a patio at eye level with the pool. Not impressed and told no other rooms for two days. Next day joined the queue of people to see the TUI rep (also complaining of wrong rooms and in one case a couple who had been placed out with the property) Rep wasnt particularly helpful and was then told by the owner that no room available for further 3days and he questioned why I wasnt happy!!! This place is marketed at 3stars but falls very short of that. Our first room had a broken bed lamp with bare wires exposed and the smoke detector missing. New room had an open drain at the toilet area and although we were told it would be fixed it wasnt. At least the lady who cleaned the rooms gave us a wee towel to cover it. Actually the lady who cleaned did a very good job and was very friendly. The kitchen area is adequate but limited utensils/cutlery. Certainly the location of this place is good but there are several other apartments in the area so I wouldnt recommend this one or use it if I returned to Rethymno
