    Cant wait to go again!

We have just spent three nights in this hotel with a group of like minded friends. The hotel was a delight, the food delicious, and our room simply splendid. The patron, his wife and their staff were efficient and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The area surrounding was beautiful - very rural and quiet - but with amazing beaches along the nearby coast. Perhaps not the place if you want a lively holiday but certainly a wonderful one to rest and relax. My husband and I will certainly go there again ... and again!

    Relaxing and romantic

We had a fabulous stay at this hotel. The hosts were very friendly and offered us a free double upgrade which was very much appreciated. The room was huge and the bed was very comfy. The evening meal was absolutely delicious. It was a set menu and I am usually a fussy eater but I gave everything a try and really enjoyed it all. The hotel provides quiet and calm atmosphere; perfect for our romantic weekend away. We had a lovely stroll through the surrounding fields and enjoyed sitting by the lake, watching the ducks. Breakfast was also very nice, especially the freshly baked breads and croissants. Thank you very much.

    Little gem!

Our daughter had been staying in France with her boyfriend and his family and we were collecting her but needed a hotel for 3 nights which was close by. I booked here as it looked typically French and was small and intimate. The staff and owners were delightful, nothing was too much trouble, the hotel looked lovely and the restaurant had a lovely, cozy ambiance. We only ate dinner the first evening which was a fixed menu and was absolutely delicious. We had breakfast for all three mornings and I was perfectly happy though my husband likes a cooked breakfast. There was still enough choice but I would have liked a self service toaster provided for the bread. Our room was good with views over the village pond. Above all it was peaceful with only the sound of ducks to listen to. Overall a fab little hotel in a rural location though quite pricey but that wouldnt stop us returning. It also gave me the opportunity to practice my French somewhat.

    Beautiful stay for Lessay Fair

We had a fantastic stay here for Lessay Fair, a large room with an extra small bed for a child. Very peaceful and quiet, the food ( chef is Mike the owner) was superb and they were very obliging and accommodating cooking a plate of oeufs for my grandson ! This really is a place for foodies and nothing is too much trouble for the hosts. There is a beautiful duck pond just outside the gate and we fed the ducks just before w3 left.

An exquisite séjour - delightful hospitable hosts - excellent cusine.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three-night, demi-pension break at La Ferme des Mares. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Sonia who was a delightful, helpful host throughout. In the dining room, Aurianne was ever hospitable and efficient. La Ferme oozes a lovely genuine welcoming ambiance. Michael Allens food was the epitome of culinary excellence La Fermes Michelin mention is well-deserved. The menu retour de marché changed each night. We enjoyed many gastronomic highlights such as the magret de canard on the first evening and the freshest white cod on the second but the standout was our final night. We started with delicious melon gazpacho with jambon de serrano shavings, followed by succulent pintade accompanied by wilted Pak choi and baby peppers stuffed with mushrooms, then a triumphant finale of a Normande variation on Kouign-amann with calvados soaked sponge, finely grated apple and apple ice cream an exceptional meal. La Ferme has been tastefully restored by this genial couple twelve years ago attention to detail is everywhere from the glorious cheminée in the dining room to our Suite No.1 with its Normande character, original features and great views across open countryside at the rear and the Tuscan-like farmyard to the front. There are several captivating coastal paths Sonia recommended the walk along the strand from Saint-Germain Sur Ay towards la Plage approx 4 kms highly memorable with curlews crying on the wind and a view across the ever-changing bay with its gentle waves reflecting the sunlight. We also had the pleasure of visiting the Sunday market at Saint-Germain La Plage excellent fresh local produce. Must-see day trips include Abbaye de Hambye (approx 50 kms) and a trip to Gruchy to visit the Maison Natale of impressionist painter Jean-Francois Millet both give a unique insight into Normandie life and history. Nearby Portbail is exquisite and Brasserie Le Repère on the port is a great place for sundowners with views out to sea. Further afield a trip to the northern coastal town of Vauville is breathtaking. We look forward to returning to La Ferme soon- an exquisite séjour in an idyllic retreat - expertly orchestrated by Sonia, Michael and their team - fully deserving of its Relais de Silence status.
