Great value hotel in good location for ferry port and the Deep

This hotel was great value for money. I had dropped family off at the ferry port and didn't want to drive straight home. The hotel was only a few minutes drive from the port and there was a large LIDL close by. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful. The room was spotless with a nice comfy bed. The bathroom had a walk in shower, no bath and it was clean. There was free wifi and tea and coffee making facilities. I spent a bit of time looking for the bathroom light because I didn't realise it was motion triggered. There was secure parking at the back of the hotel. The only slight issue was because my room was at the front of the hotel I could hear traffic noise early in the morning. I live in a very quiet area so it did wake me but I was able to go back to sleep once I realised what it was. I would stay there again as it was great value and a very good English breakfast. It was also only a short drive from the Deep.

    Worst hotel ever!

Tried to check in but was told no booking even though I could show them my confirmation. Offered 2 single rooms for myself and my daughter - totally unsuitable my daughter would have been in a different part of the building. They offered me a refund but not to find me another room in a different hotel. Just at that they found me a cancelled family room - this was on the main road and next to a metal staircase that the wedding party guests staying used. VERY NOISEY We returned at around 9.30pm and discovered a foul smell - gas like in the room then my daughter had to have a bath as no shower screen, pole or curtain, in fact the shower was broken and water was running out of the burst pipe!! On complaining the manager came to my room pulled the shower out and left saying they would replace. She advised the smell was sewage coming from the pipes not gas!!! They were not interested in my complaint and just advised they were busy with a wedding and they would refund me -saying you can leave the hotel and find somewhere else at 10.30pm at night - no help or assistance!!! This is the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to book I did not stay I left and found a room at another hotel. My advice DO NOT BOOK this hotel awful experience

    UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES STAY HERE!

Checked into the hotel on 09/12/2019 at approximately 5:30pm. I was handed a key card to a room on the second floor. After carrying all my luggage up and entering the room it appeared I had entered somebody elses room. The bed was unmade, there was beer bottles on the side and towels on the floor. After going back to reception I was handed another key card to a different room. This room was also untidy with the bed unmade, towels on the floor and rubbish in the bin. After then going back down to reception I was handed another room. This time the room looked OK. I unpacked my belongings and went to take a shower, now the bathroom light was not working. So after a long day of working 13 hours I had to take a shower in the dark aided by my mobile phone torch. After going back to reception I told the receptionist that the light is not working, she advised that nobody would be available tonight to repair this but somebody would come tomorrow to fix it. I confirmed this was acceptable. I then met my colleague who was also staying in the hotel and he advised that his shower was not working. He also reported this to reception who advised somebody would repair this tomorrow. After settling down for the night and sitting down on the bed this then fell through as one of the wooden bars had been temporarily fixed previously. This really added to an already awful day. In the morning I went for breakfast at 6:30am but the door was locked and all the lights were turned off to enter the reception/dining area. After waiting for 5 minutes and wondering if breakfast was actually available at this time somebody opened the door. I then had to find my way to the tables in the dark until a light was finally turned on. Now the breakfast was as much of a shambles as the room. There was only 3 cups and 3 glasses available. After returning back to the hotel from work tired and needing a shower the bathroom light was still not working, I contacted my colleague who advised his shower was still also not working. We then packed our belongings up and went to reception. The receptionist said "are you checking out" which sounded like she was expecting us to depart. There was no questions to ask why we are going, is everything ok or can they do anything to help us. I told the receptionist that this is a disgusting way to treat paying customers and how is it acceptable to not to have a fully working bathroom between either of us. She told me that "she is only a receptionist". I advised I wanted a refund after paying good money for 2 rooms for 4 nights. She then advised to speak with booking.com. There was no apologies. After speaking with booking.com they advised the hotel have agreed to refund me for 2 of the 4 nights. How can the hotel expect me to pay for 2 nights when I only stayed 1 night and left at 6pm the next night due to them still not providing me a bathroom which was fit for purpose. They had all day to change a lightbulb which would have been adequate enough for me to stay. I cannot understand for the life in me how when we report an issue which cannot be ignored the hotel management think it is acceptable to do nothing about this. It would have taken 2 minutes to repair a broken lightbulb. There is also drug addicts walking in off the street and asking for money whilst you are sat in the bar. I understand things break in hotels and might not have everything you expect but this was a horrible experience. I would honestly prefer to sleep in the car then stay in this hotel again. After arguing with the hotel via booking.com for several days and finally submitting video evidence the hotel then agreed to charge me for only 1 night. Had I not have had video evidence then the hotel would have been adamant I pay for 2 nighrs. I would advise anybody thinking to stay here to avoid at all costs.

You get what you pay for

My wife and I stayed for a family get together. The rooms are fairly basic with some minor niggles, but they are clean and functional. The bed isn't very comfortable, the pillows are wafer thin and perhaps the biggest surprise during the coronavirus outbreak, there is no soap in the bathroom. Surely at times like these, a small bar of soap should be considered essential. We were at the front of the hotel on a busy road which was quite noisy in the morning, despite the double glazing. Some of the staff were not very presentable/borderline scary. Using the function room was probably the highlight of our stay - a large room with plenty of seating and it's own bar, although the bar prices were more in keeping with a more expensive venue. The breakfast was nice, although the 'dining room' was a bit rough and ready. Overall, the place is cheap and more like a hostel than a hotel.
