  So very sad

  Everything about this hotel should lead you to believe that it would be worthy of a 4 star rating. The building and grounds are stunning but sadly that's where it stopped for us. Our deluxe lake view room was beautiful in appearance however nothing worked. The safe was out of order, the Wi-Fi was non existent, the shower was broken and there was no information to be found in the room as you would usually expect to find. Unfortunately we arrived in the dark and in driving rain, and when we got to our room couldn't even find a way to call reception. To top it off one of the bathroom towels was threadbare and the hairdryer was circa 1970s and lacked any kind of power. The staff were apologetic and kind. One came and fixed the shower and took away the offending towel. They did in fairness offer to move us to a suite, however it was next door to (We think) the owner who had a very large dog and by this time we were beaten and the thought of said pooch barking through the night was going to be too much for us. The hotel is located at the top of an extremely steep drive and certainly not walkable into town in a hurry, at least a 30 minute walk...if you don't mind driving however, this would not be a problem. The receptionist told us taxis would be approx 10 each way. We checked out the next morning and despite us arguing, they still charged us in full for a nights stay. With a little love, care and attention to detail, this could be a beautiful hotel...for us however, it was not.

  DO NOT STAY HERE

  Went to room after checking in, I appreciate its an italien style hotel which is perfectly fine but this was very run down. First given a room with an old pink grubby bathroom suite with a shower on the bath but no attachment on wall to put it on, no curtain. Toilet opposite a bidet... literally 5 cm opposite.. so if sat on toilet would have to straddle the bidet. Realised fridge not cool whatsoever, my husband stayed in room I went to reception. Asked to move to a room with a shower on wall politely, lady said move aside theres people checking in she needs to see first before me even though I was ahead of them all. She then continued a phone call in italien and then served everyone before me. She said she cant move rooms as we have stepped inside the room and she doesnt know which rooms have shower above bath or separate shower, i said right well I want either a shower or a fridge, we have paid £500 to stay here 4 nights and I did not expect this! She said fine we will go and look for room with shower on wall. Found one, moved rooms. Bathroom grubby, mouldy grout, tiny that if you were over a size 12 you wouldnt even fit in the bathroom (luckily we were ok). Could sit on loo, dry hair with the hoover style hair dryer, wash your hands all at the same time. Wall next to bed had plaster missing, look like bugs could come in. Bed creaky and tiny, Im 5ft 2 and my feet hung off the end let alone my husbands, rolled into middle of bed it had been used to much. Breakfast ok, but just cold selection and hard boiled eggs. Spa facilities absolutely lovely, view and pools lovely, so such a shame the rooms let this down. Never ate in hotel or did anything apart from sleep (not well) and eat breakfast and go out for the whole day and evening. Stay in the grand hotel if want Gardone Riviera, under no circumstances is it worth staying here for just the pool etc. Will never be back to hotel. Someone needs to buy it and refurbish it and it would be beautiful. Shame.

  Entorno fantastico!

  Muy lindo lugar con gran vista al lago y hermoso paisajes entorno. El personal muy gentil. El Hotel ofrece spa y restaurante. Pero es verdad que necesitaría un poco de mantenimiento la estructura. Igual hemos estado de maravilla!

  Awful experience

  We stayed there for couple of nights, in half board treatment. The experience was extremely below expectations. Ambience of the rooms is below two stars hotels standard; tiny and dirty washroom with broken taps, air conditioning in plain august wasnt working. The Menu for dinner was very limited especially for vegetarians. It seems hotel was running short of staff; at the reception, at the spa centre. Hotel authorities should seriously consider before giving stars. A four stars hotel with dirty table clothes: it is the abc it is unacceptable. Only positive thing is the view and some of the waiters who are trying to save the image of an hotel which hasnt got any adjustment during the last 30 years.

  Beautiful view, beautiful hotel...

  We loved our stay at this hotel, which delivers almost everything their website offers except the luxury... and the tennis court hasn't seen any action in a very long time and won't again without a lot of work. The whole place is a little tired and unloved, which is such a shame as it's beautiful and still worth a visit so I hippie you give it a try. One final thing; get to breakfast early as there was no bread, meat, cheese, boiled eggs or juice with 40 minutes of service still to go! Come on management, sort out some fundamentals and you'll have an amazing hotel.
