    A Nice Find

A lovely hotel and well worth finding for the superb quality of the food alone. We stayed for two nights and the spacious room had everything you could need and if not, I'm sure the excellent owners and staff would go out of their way to help you. I'm not sure if the sitting room could really be called that, it was more of a little room off the bedroom with a sofa bed, but very useful for using as a dressing room. The bathroom was very well appointed with great plumbing, a nice strong shower!! Air con worked very well too. The grounds are pleasant to sit in and the terrace can be used for evening dinner, weather permitting. The WiFi is vague but can be found with a little juggling. English is spoken and the menus are easy to understand. This was a great place to stay for exploring the Lot region.

    Nothing to recommend

This place was expensive, $274AUD per night. This does not include breakfast, tea & coffee making or decent bath towels. The bath towels were very small and incredibly thin, the bathrobes were grey/white which was off-putting, paint was peeling, decor bright orange and red. Not our taste at all and fairly basic. Dinner was available for 38 euro, set menu, but not to be recommended. The canard was too tough to cut but enjoyed by the resident dog. Wifi fades in and out as it pleases. Air conditioner inefficient and very noisy, making sleep difficult.

    Gourmet weekend

We stayed 2 nights here at the beginning of March- so no surprise that for 1night we were the only guests. So we would not have been surprised to have a pretty basic dinner. But what we got was a lovely evening, eating in an intimate dining room with a log fire, and a full choice from their menu individually cooked.Madame was very relaxed about us choosing different items from the various fixed price menus. The second night we had had a lunch out and so asked Madame for something light as a starter-and she produced a brilliant langoustine dish -little Filo pastry wraps of langoustine, with a cup of intense langoustine consommé and a foam of scallop row. Madame explained that if you start with the best ingredients(and most of the food she serves is organic)the rest is easy! We had the "romantique"suite on the ground floor- very roomy, comfortable beds and a bathroom with a deep bath and a shower that produced instant hot water. Apart from the wonderful food and comfortable rooms, what sets this hotel apart is the lovely, informal and friendly "Madame"- she really could not have done more to make us feel at home- and also patiently helped my attempts to speak French, although she speaks far better English!

    Exquisite taste, care and comfort

This is an altogether exceptional place, one where guests are few so they can be exquisitely attended to, one where every morsel of food is carefully chosen and prepared by the owners, whose culinary gifts are indeed prodigious. Not only are dinners extraordinary, but breakfasts are equally stunning. Best of all is the warmth of welcome by owners who have put their hearts into transforming a ruin into a source of real comfort and solace.

    Four night stay

We had such a lovely four night break here. We stayed in the Provence suite and it was the end of the season so was quiet but we felt so well-looked after and nothing was too much trouble. We felt completely relaxed and so enjoyed our stay.
