    Convenient & handy

Quiet little hotel right next to Confucius temple and mansion. Friendly staff, good food, very convenient, excellent value for money. Floors could be a bit cleaner as carpet a bit stained, but would definitely stay again.

Not clean, no heat, but good food.

I was very unhappy with my room. We entered on a night when we were cold from being on Mount Tai to find that the window had been left wide open with a cold wind blowing in. I couldn't get the window shut at first, it took about five minutes of struggling to get in unstuck so it could be closed. Hotel staff informed us there was no way to heat the room, so we sat with out coats and shoes on until we were ready to climb into bed. It was too cold in the morning to want to get a shower, so we skipped that part. The carpet was also very dirty. At first I thought it was just the stains, but then found out that it probably hadn't been vacuumed for several days at least. One redeeming feature of this hotel was the food. That was good! Just wish I could have been warm and clean.

    Stay at the first hotel

We arrived at Qufu, the birthplace of Confucius, on fast train. This is a school trip, EOTC (education outside the classroom). After we got of the train we went to the Confucius cemetery, then our hotel. The hotel is right beside the Confucius temple. We checked in at about 5 oclock in the evening, and prepared for dinner after a rest in the rooms. We spent the next two nights in that hotel. The moment we walked in our room, we smelt something. It smelt like a newly renovated house although the hotel was quite old. The room looked pretty good, as a whole. The carpet looked a bit old, but it felt fine when in stood on it. I went for the bathroom, and I realized that theres no toilet paper. After going to the bathroom, my roommate and I both sat on the bed and played video games together. The bed felt comfortable, not too soft, not too hard. Later that night, after lights out, we went to brush our teeth. The hotel did not provide us anything, not even cups, so we used our water bottles. We played card games until we were both tired, and we went to sleep. My roommate and I both like to leave the bathroom light or something on so that when we wake up to go to the bathroom it we can see where we are going. The problem is, the lights in the room, are either all lit up, or all switched off. The pillows were a bit too low, and made our necks hurt a little. Later that night, I was woken up by two men talking outside, they were talking at a normal volume, so its not their fault, the hotel room is totally not soundproof, the walls are like half hollow. The some windows can not be opened, some can not be closed. The room wasnt all bad, the walls were decorated nicely with a Chinese traditional drawing of Confucius. There was a desk and a lamp to do homework. The cupboard beside our beds are very useful, thats basically the place we put all our daily things. The breakfast was not bad, but there was only Chinese food, like fried dough sticks, and Shandong traditional food.

    Interesting

Our trip to Shandong began with a 4 hour high speed train ride from Hong qiao train station to qufu train station along with a half hour bus ride to the queli hotel. We arrived at the queli hotel at around 5pm and My initial reaction on the lobby was that it was very small but pretty welcoming to say the least. As we walked to our room our guid informed us that there would be a common area to hang out. It turned out there where elderly people smoking and where also fairly loud so we ended up not using it. As we entered our room it felt humid and it had a vintage, old feel. The bathroom toilet was behind the door and there was some mold growing on the wall by the showers however they supplied us with free toothbrushes, combs, toothpaste, earbuds, and cotton pads. Although we where there for educational purposes we did not expect to hear the people in the room next to us. The breakfast was not the best because I expect some fruit or cereal but I ended up with toast that tasted dry and when you bit into it it crumbled apart like a cracker. They also provided butter and jam. I ended up picking the jam that ended up just being honey. If you do end up staying at the queli hotel which I would not recommend keep in mind it is cold, dark, unhygienic, not the best food and paper thin walls as well as smokers

    Trip Tragedy

During this school trip we went to Qufu to visit different places including mount Tai. We took the fast train and once we arrived, we visited the Confucius cemetery. When we walked back to our hotel, we were exhausted. We walked into an old ancient Chinese styled building with pointed roofs which seems like it is coated with a thick layer of dust. Walking in we entered a large and quite decent lobby. After entering our rooms I realized that the hotel isnt that bad after all. That night after lights out, I went onto my bed and realized that there were holes on my pillow that seems like insects had infested it. Instead I had to use the smaller pillow which hurts my neck. The next morning, I realized that there was a snake skin lying around under my bed and I freaked out.
